Voting power explained in a way even your GRANDMA will understand.

Now that even someone having 500 sp can give visible amounts on a single vote people have been voting like crazy since the hardfork.

So it is time voting is explained.

HF19:

After the hardfork, the number of votes to completely exhaust your voting power is 50 per day.

So each vote will cost you 2% of your voting power.

Let's consider that you have 1000 steem power which gives 1$ at 100% vote weight when your voting power is at 100%.

Now don't confuse vote weight to voting power.

Vote weight: It is the percentage at which you vote at a post.
Voting power: It is the percentage at which your steem power is effective at the moment. So if your voting power is at 50% and your SP is 1000, your effective SP is 500. Got it?

Let's get back to our example.

You do 5 100% votes. So your voting power will be 90% which means the next vote will will be using only 900sp because 90% of 1000= 900.

So each vote you do will have lesser impact than the previous. In fact, the 10 votes starting from 100% voting power will give approximately:
1$ , 0.98$, 0.96$, 0.94$, 0.92$, 0.90$, 0.88$, 0.86$, 0.84$, 0.82$, and 0.80$ respectively.
Even if each of the votes are done at 100% vote weight.

Regeneration

Your voting power is magically refilled over time. The rate is 20% per 24 hours or 0.833% per hour.

So you have to wait in order to get your voting power to refill again.
