RE: Crypto falls will end?

in #steem6 years ago

Not that I've ever run a social media site, but I've been around for the rise and fall of enough of them since the start. My computing days go back to the mid 80's when we had our first computer in the house, it cost more then the cars my parents were driving.

Now as we deal with a lot of smaller members of steemit and see their posts, comments, and issues I think this adds to the knowledge base of what steemit needs to do.

If we want Steemit to go main stream then the KISS rule needs to be followed. Keep It Simple Stupid.

Problem with all the "solutions" to problem presented by the witnesses and steemit inc developers is that they all want to appear smart. But by trying so hard to look smart they are killing engagement and making it less attractive to new people coming in due to all the moving parts.

Steemit was already highly confusing to a brand new person and then they added an entire new layer to the mix, RC's. This now means people need to understand their VP, RC's, Steem vs SP vs SBD, what the "display vote value means", dust votes, blogging etiquette, and so much more to have any chance of even minor success here.

Sure RC's technically are just 1 addition to an already long list of niche industry jargon...industry of Steemit as they apply nowhere else except the copycat sites. But the RC's crippled the ability of new people (potential new money) from getting a chance to come in and play around for a little while for free before deciding they wanted to make an investment.

See this isn't a known commodity that people Need or Understand so a free trial run is needed to allow people to test drive what we have to offer.

So to make things better, we need to first make it so brand new steemit users can function at a real level each day without issue and second simplify the entire process so it's easier to understand.

Side benefit of simplifying things would be drastically less code meaning the site would be faster and less costly to run.

Dear my friend @pifc, you know that Steemit is divided in pour and rich, who have much SP want only elite platform and who are like us want popular platform, so thats why we use Steem-bounty, but is not enough...:(((

Well I don't believe that the rich want an elite platform or I wouldn't be here. An elite platform doesn't lead to one that anyone can make money on and the rich (in SP) are not worth anything if there aren't others interested in purchases the Steem or SBD they produce with all the steem. So it's in their best interest to have this become a widely used platform as the demand will increase and they can actually cash out some of that "paper wealth" they currently have. That is it's only worth something on paper since they aren't selling it, but if they tried to sell 1 million steem tomorrow because they needed cash fast we would see the price drop drastically as they sold. If a couple whales did this at the same time then steem would have no value at all as there isn't that much demand out there right now. But add 50k real users to the platform, not bots or duplicate accounts, and you would see real demand for steem and the price will rise. Add 250k users and we are easily a $10 coin.

very good point @pifc

I also don't think rich want this place to be an elite platform. that would make them lose most of invested resources
