Where in the World is Steem? #3 - South America & Central America

After yesterday's post covering Africa, we are now moving on to South America.

South America, in particular Venezuela, has always been a stronghold for Steem.

Over the past year the Venezuelan Steem community seems to have been booming.

There are also signs of growing interest in other Latin American countries such as Argentina, Brasil, Colombia and Chile.

SOUTH AMERICA

With the very large base in Venezuela, South America is almost certainly the biggest Steem continent.

Venezuela is very much the flagship of Steem in South America with over 400 active members, seven Country Representatives and several Communities.

At the beginning of February one of these Country Reps @tocho2 compiled a list of all Steemians across South America, which showed a total of 440 active across the continent of which 408 are in Venezuela...

@tocho's list had a total of 793 active and inactive Steemians across the continent.

Just two weeks later Argentina Country Rep @belenguerra published a very good cartographic representation of the spread of Steemians with the total now up to 895.

@belenguerra calculates that around 90% of that total are in Venezuela...

@fjjrg has been looking at the geographical spread of Steemians across Venezuela. He so far has 314 people in his state by state census...

Among the other South American countries @tocho2's list shows active Steemians in Argentina (6), Brazil (7), Chile (2), Colombia (13), Cuba (1), Peru (2)

Country Rep @belenguerra is tracking Argentina members more closely. In her latest survey from just a couple of days ago she has found 16 active Steemians...

CENTRAL AMERICA

There doesn't seem to be much Steem activity across Central America.

Mexico used to have an active Steem community but @tocho2's list only mentions one active Steemian there now.

There is a Country Representative listed for Mexico, @leveuf, but he does not appear to be active currently.
