Hi @rebeccamorgan - Welcome to steemit! Here's a very light breakdown to help out:
- Steem is the main token of the Steem Blockchain.
- Steem Power is vested STEEM and gives you voting power. The more you have, the increase in your vote weighting power!
- Steem dollars are currency you can spend to buy items in the marketplace and should typically hold 1:1 ratio with the US Dollar.

Steem power also gives interest but has to be powered down over a 104 week payout period if you want to withdraw.
