WEKU - A STEEMIT CLONE, THINK AGAIN!
Welcome to the Blockchain, where magic happens. You must have seen like 3 to 4 different cousins of Bitcoin (Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold etc.) the Apex coin, or some distance cousins of Ethereum (Ethereum Classic and the likes), now permit me to introduce you to Weku (not in any way related to Steem or SBD though).
Recently I stumbled upon a Dapp that looks similar to the Steem Blockchain blogging platform, with different tokens and probably varied roadmaps, but easy-to-use just like steemit. It also rewards its users, that is; content creators. Therefore, in my own opinion, I think it was created by demand to try correcting some of the emerging flaws of the blogging platform of Steemit and never meant to be a competition between steem and weku (tokens for each platform respectively) as a friend I was discussing this project with suggested.

By popularity, Weku is growing in strength and user-base daily according to my findings as it rewards users that invite their friends and families to join the platform. From my research, I have uncovered a fact about several inactive users on the steem Blockchain had jumped ship, many had migrated to Weku when it launched and this could only mean one thing; it seem the latter is offering something more unique to its users which steemit is not offering or I rephrase “which The Steem Blockchain has seized to offer no more”
The Blockchain Technology comes with vast opportunities and options, the decentralized characteristics make it possible for unimaginable things to happen. Ten years ago, nobody knew Bitcoin would be the ultimate cryptocurrency today, just like no one could predict where steem/SteembaackDollars and or Weku Tokens could end up in terms of price if few months or years’ time, just maybe we are looking at the most scalable and efficient cryptocurrencies before our eyes.
Weku looks promising, how long the project has been running I really cannot ascertain but for now, it is free of spamming and vote buying (Bid Bots) which seems like something of general concerned on the steem Blockchain.
With number of active users decreasing on steemit by day and by week, even though I still want to give it the benefits of doubts that the Crypto-DIP is the major culprit behind this decline in population of active users, people seems to be generally losing faith in Cryptocurrencies. However, steemit seems to have its own peculiar problem too, losing users because only large investors runs the show on the platform which makes it a little bit not ready for mainstream adoption, because if Large Investors (Whales and Dolphins) calls the shots, that is a form of censorship which makes it not a decentralised entity.
Not a bad idea for these big fishes to run the show on the platform, but where does that leave average users? Will it be of benefits when most users abandon the platform and the little percentage of these large investors who are just a fragment of total average users are left alone to do their thing?
Maybe steem price surge will make a difference, or maybe the launch of its long awaited Smart Media Tokens in the Q1 of 2019 will brings users back in affluence, all fingers crossed in anticipation. By the, Weku tokens would be trading according to their forecast as I read in my research, seems like a collision course for SMT launch and Weku trading on exchanges.
