Why is everyone so dependent on Steemit Inc?
Even now.. after @ned let us hang for weeks now, without saying a word.
And before that it wasn't better..
I thought this would be a decentralized community.
Shouldn't then the community be ruling?
Everyone is just looking at steem Inc..
But in fact, steem Inc owns a very big stake of Steem.
Ninja mined or not.. Steemit Inc has too much power over this decentralized community.
And isn't very communicative, too..
Maybe the community should fork..
I hope @ned is trying to make the community to fork and take a bigger responsibility.
Maybe he can't talk and is so uncommunicative/ inactive because he has legal issues.
There are some big players in this world, who are against freedom.
2019 is going to be interesting; I was surprised that Steemit Inc. actually listened to the community since their 70% layoff, and very happy about the strong statements from some steemians.
It might go to shits, it might emancipate into real (~90%) decentralisation; I just worry about competition (EOS, ETH seem to have a more orpfessional reputation).
A little comparison:
95% of the crypto market wrecked: 70% team layoff, struggling
5% in stock market: we have to fire you all

I can't answer your questions but have also made many thoughts about this topic lately.
We should not repel Steemit Inc yet, because this would cause a lot of turmoil and FUD.
Furthermore, Steemit Inc has invested money and time into the project and would be willing to continue doing so.
However, they should better integrate the community or give up responsibilities.
I'm sure we'll find a peaceful solution that everyone can benefit from.
I'm just not sure about their size of stake..
