Should Have Built On Steem (New meme idea)
In the UK there is a company called SpecSavers who provide glasses and eyewear services.
They have this long running campaign of ads 'should have gone to SpecSavers' where they show people making funny mistakes because their vision is not right (suggesting that they should have gone to SpecSavers).
Check out this compilation of TV ads to get a feel for this funny stuff:
The so-called home of free speech online Gab.ai has just been shut down when their hosting infrastructure providers withdrew service.
See https://gab.ai home page.
Right now it says this:
Gab has spent the past 48 hours proudly working with the DOJ and FBI to bring justice to an alleged terrorist. Because of the data we provided, they now have plenty of evidence for their case. In the midst of this Gab has been no-platformed by essential internet infrastructure providers at every level. We are the most censored, smeared, and no-platformed startup in history, which means we are a threat to the media and to the Silicon Valley Oligarchy.Gab isn’t going anywhere.
It doesn’t matter what you write. It doesn’t matter what the sophist talking heads say on TV. It doesn’t matter what verified nobodies say on Twitter. We have plenty of options, resources, and support. We will exercise every possible avenue to keep Gab online and defend free speech and individual liberty for all people.
You have all just made Gab a nationally recognized brand as the home of free speech online at a time when Silicon Valley is stifling political speech they disagree with to interfere in a US election.
The internet is not reality. TV is not reality. 80% of normal everyday people agree with Gab and support free expression and liberty. The online outrage mob and mainstream media spin machine are the minority opinion. People are waking up, so please keep pointing the finger at a social network instead of pointing the finger at the alleged shooter who holds sole responsibility for his actions.
No-platform us all you want. Ban us all you want. Smear us all you want.
You can’t stop an idea.
As we transition to a new hosting provider Gab will be inaccessible for a period of time. We are working around the clock to get Gab.com back online. Thank you and remember to speak freely.
Andrew Torba, CEO Gab.com
I couldn't help it, the first thought into my mind was "Should have built on Steem".
On a serious note, aren't they about the make the same mistake twice by simply moving to a new hosting provider?
Why not rethink the very paradigm of your hosting infrastructure and save content on a blockchain?
They surely have heard of blockchain technology and it wouldn't take them long to find Steem.
Your thoughts?
Good idea, to built on on Steem! Hope they consider this or something similiar. But there are some supportive hostservices out there. Anyway they should find such a partner.
Great content!
Wow, these centralized media sites are quickly becoming a scary place for communities trying to speak their mind and getting unbiased information. The decentralization of the internet as a whole has to come sooner rather then later as the alternative is a world that takes us back centuries in terms of social rights.
@marketingmonk, you should contact SpecSavers and offer them your amazing courses and recommendations...so they would avoid making the same mistake twice!
Someone from Stinc should contact them.

You make a good point there with hosting providers censoring people and net neutrality being a huge issue at the moment with the average internet user not giving two shits but those who make a living off of it need it. I think if free speech and uncnesored or indpenedant news agencies want to keep going they will need to embrace blockchain and like you said why not steem.
We already prove the use case every day and i've been saying for a while we need more formal creators on steemit or dApp for them to use. I really think it would bring great value to the steem blokchain and pull us out of this obsecure social media tag we currently have
Blockchain is the safe hiding space for free speech!

Great points! I enjoyed the video. Thanks!
