I don't know a lot about bitcoin but I don't think it is pegged to anything.

But, the fact that bitcoin is doing so well while the US Dollar is stronger than it's been since 2003 is very telling. It gives us a different perspective when comparing steem to different currencies and assets rather than just comparing it to bitcoin or the USD.

Although in general people are going to be more interested in BTC/Steem and USD/STeem I thought it would be interesting to make these charts. As for the future, well I can't tell that but I think the coming hardfork will be good for steem in the long run...
