Why you shouldn't always focus on making money with Steemit: Mathematically Explained
I'm sure that many of us are here on Steemit with the single purpose of making money. While that's expected of something that operates in this way, we shouldn't optimize our posts for money, as that's a dead end.
As Dollar Vigilante tells us in this post post, just attempting to do something with the sole purpose of getting you money and fame leads nowhere. What matters is that you follow your dreams, to the best of your ability, never giving up and giving it your all, even when the conditions are dire.
You should never believe that your dreams are bound by money, because when you do, you start following tips such as the ones from this post here by kdugar. While these tips have good intentions behind them and they will indeed improve the quality of your posts, if everyone optimizes for money, Steemit will break.
How ridiculous is the tip that suggests posting between 22:00 and 23:00 GMT? If everyone here did that, can you imagine the waterfall of posts between those times and the void in the rest of the hours? I'm sure the writer didn't want to break his own platform (as he also said correlation does not imply causation!), but this is mathematically rigorous: if everyone followed those tips to the letter, this website would end.
All in all, don't focus too much on the money making side and figure out what you want from life. Then acquire it, using money as a means and not as an end. Unless your dream is to pilot commercial jets on your own, alone. In that case, I'm sorry captain, but I must suggest applying to a airline company and having someone by your side!
Indeed and well stated - do something because you love it otherwise you should just write articles by the word and get in that manner. Upvoted as this deserves more exposure.
Anybody who posts and writes simply for money will soon be disappointed.
I'm sure! But that will only bring people in! As long as content is still well curated, the money will be distributed amongst the people who truly enjoy writing and discussing with a passion. I'm afraid we might hit a block if people don't curate content well enough and low-effort one is upvoted through the roof. I wrote a post about it here, but the gist of it is that, like with everything else, problems will be found and eventually we will have to find a better alternative to Steemit. Until then, we can discuss its advantages and find solutions to the foreseeable problems with it.
Everything in your post makes sense.
I have spent much time looking at the get rich guru's, guess what you don't unless you are exceptionally lucky.
I am new to steemit, and I like what I see, if money does accumulate it would make me happy if it does not I will still be happy.
I like the format here, and I do like to write, how well I do this is the question. But I have a determination and a willingness to improve my writing skills.
So following your advice concentrate on the writing, if money comes, as a result, I will not refuse.
The thing is, I agree with Dollar Vigilante here: he's not lucky, he has had a lifetime of experiences with this: he's extremely talented. He's not lucky at all, he just put in lots of effort, have you read the entirety of his post? It's very humbling and feeling like he's lucky feels like a mistake to me.
I enjoy writing a ton and usually keep it to myself, but with money on the table, why not share?
You should comment more on threads share your opinions an people will be more likely to follow you. Also commenting is another good way of earning money if users feel you input is good.
I feel like you didn't read my post. It directly talks about not focusing on money and you're suggesting more tips on how to make it. May I suggest you give it a quick read? It's not that long.
