So Ned is doing something different?

After the announcement from Ned i am confused.

It sounds like he is leaving steem/steemit realizing it is not working.

Or am i just reading this too pessimistically?

Is his new project a new thing or sonething building on top of steem?

Very confusing to me. But hating the fact that my steem is powered up right now.

Sort:

For me it sounds like it will just either be a completely new STEEM Frontend or, more likely, a Application run as Smart-Media-Token on the STEEM blockchain.

Creating a seperate company for a seperate App doesn‘t seem unreasonable imo.

Sumed up - I think it is good news for STEEM rather than something I worry about.

Greets

I think Ned is developing another app like steemit.com on steem blockchain and he wants to do this in new company. Did I get it right?

I understand it in the same way

My understanding is he is working on building a proof of concept App for SMTs, just like Steemit was proof of concept for Steem. But I am wrong half of the time.

For a very long time Ned has been talking about Oracles and SMTs. The current good SMT projects are like @steemhunt and @dlike and they are not massively radical. What Ned is going for (I assume) is for a new STEEM interface that is tightly connected to SMTs and Oracles on the blockchain. You could call it a killer DAPP/flagship product to sell SMTs.

I assume he is doing all this to keep ahead of EOS. Looking at the technology and marketcap I'd say you won't regret powering up more. Ned is not going to do well if he simply leave STEEM. After Dlive left their Alexa rank has dropped by over 100K places. That's a real blow. Ned is not stupid.

"You may have seen some of the posts roll out from my recent comments about building a new Steem-based application."

It sounds like it will be a Steem dApp. My guess is a way to bring the benefits of SMTs and blockchain to external non-crypto communities, perhaps even monetising those communities. But simplified, with all the complexity under the hood. That's a guess. It could be anything.

What I understand is that @ned is involved in making a new Steem application, like Steemit. From here:

my recent comments about building a new Steem-based application

So the new application will be built on Steem. The blockchain remains up, the developments will keep going, it is just another app and nothing to worry about.

I think you are seeing it just as it is.

He won't focus on improving Steemit anymore and instead leave it to the witnesses. So we can wait in vain for a new UI.

He prefers moving on to something what will work better in his favor and leave all this community talk behind. Some new "super app" for the blockchain.

I hope I am to negative here, but there hasn't been much place for optimism recently.

People are leaving and all is left to the bots and scavengers.
pitty...

Man, that's f pessimistic, you don't have a clue what's going to happen to this blockchain in 2019, are you counting the number of dApps we have already. Yes, the blogging part has to be worked on but the Steem blockchain for any reward system, that is what coming and it is massive, better get some more at these prices :-)

I think Ned wanted to start his second project and he still became the Steemit CEO.

Real question

He careful phrases that it is a competitor to steemit, which would then primarily do development, and not the underlying blockchain steem. I am quite sure this will be another frontend and in fact steemit.com is not very good. But as far as I can tell from the statement it never says that it would be based on something else than steem.

And there are a lot of things that could be improved, with concepts that maybe work offchain such as direct chats with end to end encryption, and much more.
