My Comment to @reggaemuffin's "Witness Discussion – SBD price and reverse peg" and what I think is more important right now than regulating SBDs

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

This is the answer I made on @reggaemuffin's post regarding whether to peg SBD's price but it got longer so I also made a seperate post. I encourage you to read muffin's post first before reading my comment.

I just googled pegging. I never heard that term before.

It was interesting to read through this post and some comments.

IMO this sure is a subject important to talk about especially when we are not only seeing Steemit expand and enable / sponsor projects around its platform (dlive, dtube, etc.) but also see external companies join in the future who put their trust in Steemit by using SMTs with Steemit's protocol.

Although being a total cryptocurrency noob, I think other things are more important right now and that is to keep the ball rolling and build on this already existing foundation before such vague decisions are made. For example to rid steem of its #bitcoindependency so it doesn't always dip just because old Grandpa Bitcoin stumbles upon its own obsolete technology,

because somebody made a tweet about bans and regulations that never happened or because investors start feeling scammed with all the fees surrounded by bitcoin causing investments to decrease. I sure feel like that because I am a reguler 7-4 working next door dude whose hair stands up straight when having to pay 25 dollars through transactions whenever I want to buy some steem - and I have really long hair.
What I am saying is that it would be dope if we could buy steem directly, especially with Mark Zuckerberg researching crypto now - I have a strong feeling steemit should explode this year or it might miss its chance.

< driftoff >If you want to make steemit available to creators and users, for companies, investors and the lovely aunt who posts pictures of her niece but doesn't know much about the concept of cryptocurrency, I suggest to work on those things first. Steemit has the potential to be bigger than Facebook I assume and it will need a wide spectrum of users< / drifftoff >

Steemit is still in Beta and I am very stoked to see what happens when it goes official and hits critical mass.

I hope I will "witness" that time.

thanks for sharing on steemit

SBD were supposed to be pegged to the dollar. The market decided otherwise. I say let the market resolve things on its own.

Ya just imagine when we hit 1million account how much people are going to party over it!
