RE: Blockchain Update 4: Resource Credit Implementation Details

in #steem6 years ago

In one of the previous posts an update was provided that old posts can be edited , I have tried it today and it still doesn't seem possible to do so , any guidance on this ?

Sort:

It is dependent on enough witnesses upgrading to 19.10. Once that happens, then UIs (such as steemit.com) will need to be updated to support it.

Enough witnesses have upgraded to the point that it is probably to the point that someone could do it and the blockchain would accept it, but it would likely be very slow.

Once more witnesses update, they are planning to update condenser (steemit.com).

It is possible with the Surfer App by @goodkarma. I just edited a 10 day old post. It is indeed slower but it works.

Tks for reply guys

will try out the app..

@exyle - when you say it is slow , you mean as in once you commit the changes it takes a long time to propagate them and update the post ?

Normally it's within 3 seconds but I'm guessing that the transaction has to wait till it runs into a witness that runs the new version for verification. Longest I had to wait was about 20 seconds.

K good to know for @SteemPeak was wondering when we could do this.

"As the release of Hardfork 20 draws near"

I'm guessing they are letting us know what features we should expect when the Hardfork 20 happens.

I think it was part of 19.10

Unlimited content editing (past seven days)
The release will include a change to allow unlimited content editing (beyond seven days)!

Once the 19.10 release is deployed to production nodes (by the witnesses and RPC node operators), the blockchain will allow changes past the seven-day threshold. After that, it will be up to individual UIs to support unlimited content (or not).

OP:

Okay.

So, it looks like there is a delay between when it was "released" and when it really will be released. And, Steemit or other UIs will have to make updates to allow for it.

there is a delay between when it was "released" and when it really will be released

Do you know how much delay? wasn't it released with that announcement ?

No.

There are dozens of witnesses, so it depends on them to push the updates through. And to get Steemit or other UIs changed, I'm sure that would be more than a quick edit of the code. It does sound like it would be easy, but I bet there are more hooks involved.

Tks for replying..

waiting for the changes

Steemit allows me to edit my old post.

Is the post older than 7 days?

It is not. Sorry about that. I was not using my brain when I commented.

its all good..tks for replying
