I am happy with Dan Larimer based creations. While everyone has ideas and does ICO's he continues to build.
The work ethic behind Dan Larimer can be seen everywhere. He's a role model, a visionary, and a hard worker that is constantly achieving new goals.
Dan, aka bytemaster has been involved in many projects, as shown by his github page. That account was opened July 28, 2010 when Bitcoin was trading at 7 cents $0.07 USD
..Please THINK about that for a moment....
Dan Larimer has watched Bitcoin evolve from the days it was only worth 7 PENNIES each.
Think he might have some experience in the cryptoindustry? He has tons.
Coincidentally, bytemaster registered his bitcointalk.org alias on July 27, 2010 (Yes, Bitcoin was still $0.07 USD then as well)
It is actually quite funny to realize that Bitcoin back in July 2010 didn't move very often price wise. 7 cents yesterday could be 7 cents the next day. :)
Back to Dan Larimer.
His first message on Bitcointalk.org was:
I am somewhat new to the whole bitcoin community, but bit coin solves a problem I was trying to solve myself (how to establish an unregulated digital currency to replace paper money).
It seems that the principle of bitcoin is to track transactions and that it is possible for anyone to review the "transaction history" of any particular coin. If that is the case, then is there any reason why bit coins couldn't double as digital warehouse receipts?
Suppose you deposit 100 oz of gold with me and in exchange I give you 100 bit coins with a "repurchase agreement" in place where I will buy back the "same" 100 bit coins for 100 oz of gold. The fact that the coins "left" a designated account and have not yet returned to that account means that they are "backed by gold". With some standard and published "addresses" and some "even/odd" counting it should be possible to independently verify whether a coin is backed by gold and who is doing the backing without checking in with a the warehouse.
Is there something about the bitcoin implementation that would prevent this kind of usage?
Now you may smile, smirk, or even lightheartedly chuckle at this type of question.
==========
Q: What solution did Dan create that solved that "warehouse and token / gold issue?"
A: BITSHARES, and it is available and working right now.

WE ALL HAD TO START SOMEWHERE. DAN LARIMER INCLUDED.
It is 2017 now, Bitcoin is no longer worth 7 cents, and understanding how Bitcoin is even worth $4,552 USD (from 7 cents, a little over 7 years ago) is staggering to say the least.
To think that I'm even typing on steemit, with steem power (SP), and steem dollars (SBD), and steem (STEEM) as a currency as a brainstorm from Dan Larimer, is mind blogging to me. How he got that idea out of his head, and facilitated its creation is amazing to me.... what a great accomplishment.
This causes me to pause, reflect, and applaud Dan Larimer from the first day he created his Github account, until what he's done with it in 7 years time. Know many people like Dan? I bet you can't name 100 people like him.
It's shocking and amazing to me that Dan Larimer based creations are complex indepth systems like Bitshares, Steem, and soon EOS and he's not stopping.
Oh sure, he's worked on other projects too, only 30 or so repositories on Github.... and BOOST is one of them.
BOOST? What's that?
It was created in 2003 (no, not by Dan Larimer), but it is a C++ library that Bitcoin and hundreds of altcoins use. If you've ever compiled a coin from source code, you're very aware what BOOST is..
Wait.. never mind boost. Tell me more about Dan Larimer.
Ok, I leave you with this parting thought...
Dan's life story, would take a lifetime to explain. The point is that he arrived on the Bitcoin scene like the rest of us... educated himself, rolled up his sleeves, and got to work.
Even if he quit tomorrow the contributions he's made to the world in the last 7 years are built to last. Dan Larimer based creations would live on and inspire projects of the future.
The respect Dan Larimer deserves is incredible. The respect he gets is minimal and thats society's fault. Not his...
So today I was thinking about it, and I am happy with Dan Larimer based creations like Bitshares and Steem, and I thought I'd like to talk about it. I miss Dan's frequent blog posts, but that tells me, he's busy at work, and that's good.
I'm on day 5/30 of my positivity challenge.
So with this post, I'd like to remind everyone who Dan Larimer / bytemaster is, and maybe if I'm lucky he'll even see this appreciative post. Good Job Dan. I don't know how you do it. Just that you CAN do it. So please keep doing it.. the Force is definitely with you. :)
While I had known he was quite a programmer, it was his interview on Epicenter that blew me away. He has such a command of what he's doing and where he's taking EOS. And, the history he shared gave me a better understanding of Bitshares and Steemit.

I'd heard Stan (Dan's dad) say on one of his interviews that Satoshi was responding to questions from Dan on BitCoinTalk.rog. So, Dan's loaded with Street Cred when it comes to crypto.
Very well written and well said @intelliguy
I totally see what is going on here. The man is building! I feel the distribution model is brilliant and true as well.
I am coming past others who are just perplexed by it and are not catching it.
You should check out the Telegram group chat if you haven't already! Lots of laughs and frustrations! haha
In any case, I am very excited for the future of EOS and all participating!
Peace! 🐳
Sounds like a hell of an impressive story and accomplishments! Jesus, I'm just proud when I finished a 500 piece puzzle, shit.
It is exactly that.. I'm glad I wrote it well enough for you to get that out of it. I wanted to help Dan Larimer get some well deserved justice for his efforts and I was worried I might not have put the point across well enough.
Thanks for your comment, that helped immensely.
In Dan we trust!
Take solace in the idea that he doesn't get the respect he deserves for his creations b/c his personal philosophy is so unusual and non-mainstream. Those with money aren't so keen it seems for counter cultural thinkers, despite their desire to create solutions that benefit the common person without aggression or coercion.
There are a few I have seen who have a genuine passion for liberty, but few of them have contributed to the core technology the way Dan has. He had me all in at BitSharesX back in 2014.
Oh, but Dan is a fraudster and Steemit is a scam, you know. We are all a bunch of dupes and have no idea how much we're being taken advantage of as we have fun educating and entertaining each other here and earning ducats as we do so. I know this is true because I read it on the internet.
LOL - sarcasm at it's best.
Dan is the man!!
Agreed - I'm in!
I'm a huge Dan fan! I am amazed how coins are not more valuable, but hopefully people will open their eyes soon.
it's so strange that's why get so many upvote, I wish we could give a upvote.
