Why I am Backing Up My Portfolio and Loading it with Steem.
For the Last Four Months I Have Been a Seller of Steem.
As Steem climbed throughout the spring I was powering down my Steemit account and putting that money into other Crypto Currencies that I felt would bring me more profits in the short term. To me Steem and the Steemit platform was not showing me anything exciting. Unlike many folks on Steemit I do not cheer blindly for the crypto currency. If the signs show that the token will fall in value I move on to something else.
The momentum is shifting for Steem.

The Crypto Rubberband Effect.
If you follow me you see this term used often in my posts. Bitcoin and Altcoins traditionally act like a see saw. When Bitcoin rockets the altcoins drop and vice versa. Currently Bitcoin is very bullish. This has slowed down the altcoins but don't be dismayed. When the money comes back to altcoins tokens like Steem will benefit. I personally think Bitcoin will peak out at $5,000 in the short term and then begin trading sideways.
This is great news for Steem. When the money gets bored with BTC the traders will look for opportunities. Steem is ripe for a pop because it actually has a use case. Imagine if Steem was discussed on CNBC or in the NY Times. This might not happen in the near term but I sense some positive gains for Steem in the near future.
I will continue to powerdown my Steemit account for the time being. I have nothing against Steemit. I just prefer to have control over my holdings.

I feel real good about steem because it has something used by people everyday that is growing. In combination with with censored people from YouTube goin to Dtube. I see great things. Great post and info.
There we go @hilarski, an old g+ buddy from way back here! I think you are seeing the field clearly here. I've been on Steemit for almost 3 months, so I've done a bit differently than many here; I haven't taken a dollar from this platform, but have tossed a few bucks in the pot. I believe I'm involved in something incredible. I like to do my homework, as due diligence is absolutely vital in any form of investing, but my experience on Steemit thus far makes it hard to keep from slapping the ask on STEEM! It's something that I want to see propelled into the world of social media and dominate. I don't do the 'rest' of the major sites anymore because I'm burned out on them - it's not fun anymore.
Steemit has some kinks to iron out, but they are bringing in new talent to the team and I have seen some positive action that makes me want to further my participation in this platform. I love what I'm seeing for the long term, but to be honest I function with a mentality of a trader, not so much an investor. I want to be seeing this as an investment, not a trade. So, I create content here. Time is our most valuable asset, right Randy? Thanks to @finnian, I'm here so we can all see this beta splash into the big social ocean!
A good friend of mine tells me to trust my gut. I've burned myself numerous times for not. This place is going to take over the social media Internet in my opinion. When it does, what will happen to the price of STEEM? It should go up quite nicely when 300K users goes to 3 million!

Agree with those sentiments. I'm finally in the midst of powering down so I can add to other cyrptos, mainly NEO. Until Steem gets established above 33k satoshi again there is no point in having bullish talk. Hopefully it makes the push soon though.

The best part with investing in steem is that if we buy SP with it , it grows by itself like the body cells. The more SP we have the more value of our upvotes and we get in return. This is not the case with other crypto-currencies.

Yes, I'm ignoring all the FUD, and my SP will continue to be built. Steem Power is one of many long term baskets for me, and I consider it part of my retirement wealth! There are "only" 300K users here for now. Imagine what will happen once there are 3 million? Then consider how many users FascistBook has. What happens when even a small fraction of them switch?
P.S. What is your stance on CDX's initial offering in less than 12 hours? I just listened to a @sgtreport video about it, and I'd be curious to get your far more knowledgeable opinion on it.
I have never heard of CDX @Finnian. As far as building SP, I would rather have my BTC working for me. I will keep mine around 10,000 Steem.
My goal is 5K for now. I'm not sure what I'll do from there. :)
