Steem Power-up Post Bug & Life
I'm assuming this has already been pointed out but thought it was funny that in your feed the power up icon is still the old steemit logo (above), but if you click on the post and open it up it's the new logo as can be seen below.
Pokemon Go updates, Steemfest live stream, and trying to be productive at work for month end updates and renewing my healthcare stuff. Life is crazy right now and with the holidays coming up it isn't getting much crazier.
Loved watching the @dollarvigilante talk on the live stream. He brought up two great points about how if Steemit wants to be taken seriously it needs to market itself more/better and it needs to catch up technically with other social media sites such as instantaneous sign-ups.
I'm not through the entire panel screening of steem inc for room 1 day 1, but really like the Q&A portion. I felt bad for the original presenters because he seemed super nervous about presenting ... and I'll just leave it at that.
The "moderator" did a much better job at being calm, cool, and collected through his portion. Some of the highlights I caught were as follows.
- They have a small team so instead of being proactive about some issues (such as DDOS attacks) they respond on more of a reactive basis to better prioritize there work.
- As Steemit grows they realize the need to help make content manageable.
- Lots of features not available with current UI such as 80 Steem / 20 SBD rewards, splitting payouts for posts between multiple accounts, and escrows, but is available in the blockchain which can be implemented by other developers. Sounds like they're leaving these features to be developed by the community in whatever way they may see fit.
- The new logo was set-up to help differentiate Steem and Steemit as well as helping Steem inc prove ownership of there material to take down phishing sites to help improve security.
- 10 steem to start an SMT. This is to prevent people from spam creating SMT's, but allow pretty much anyone to start their own SMT. Basically the same reason there is an account creation "fee".
- SMT will be integrated for the world next year first and then into the Steemit UI.
- A comment widget is being worked on so any site can add the widget to there site and take advantage of commenting, upvoting, and earning steem on any website.
May post some more highlights tonight or tomorrow as time allows, but until then let me know in the comments below your thoughts on the highlights you've seen so far? What are you most excited/disappointed about to this point.
Just noticed this below. Looks like they just added to the UI one of the things that was discussed at Steemfest. I'll work with @topkpop to let you know if she earns 10% of the rewards from this post! Stay tuned this is an awesome addition to Steem. Looks like you can add multiple beneficiaries and from what they said at steemfest it's up to 256 and that number can be increased if they're given a valid reason.
These are just small errors, that will probably be fixed soon.
For sure! Just thought it was funny and was wondering if anyone else noticed.

Ahhh this is what you're on about... I still havent found it! It's a pretty cool feature and I can see it coming handy when we want to donate proceeds direct to whoever we want without having to go through the wallet.
Let me know how u guys go!
Yeah I had no idea this was being implemented so soon though (aka today) they just mentioned during steemfest that the capability was there.
I'm not sure I understand this statement.
So basically SMT will be released to the world without any way to intergrate SMT's on the steemit site. Basically the functionality will be there so busy.org could integrate SMTs into post rewards, but the team will be focused on releasing SMT's first.
Then shortly after the Steemit website will integrate SMT's through the website UI so that you can reward or receive SMT's through steemit website. Bad explanation, but does that clear it up?
I assumed that's what it meant, but "integrated for the world" didn't sound right.
I guess, I will create DeanLogic SMT and then build up my site, then figure out how to work it all together with STEEMit.
I think that was the words they used, but maybe i just paraphrased in my notes.
Where does the line form to be put on as your beneficiary?
Haha I tried, but I can't figure out what key it's asking for to accept the beneficiary. Once I figure it out I'll add you on a post to "test"
Yay!
