Steem stalls as COPPA and new rules send YouTubers scrambling to alternate platforms

Income on the Steem blockchain is generated by "investment" (the more currency you have, the more you earn) and by "work" (earning currency by contributing content that adds value). Due to giving to my [MAP] project, buying myself a few more tokens I wanted, putting time into building up presence on other sites, and shedding the last of several team accounts from the total, apparent growth was fairly anemic again this week. The tokens will hold their value and eventually start to pay dividends, and there are no more team accounts to drop from the tally, so numbers should normalize next week.
My reputation went over 67 this week, and I'm now the 2050th most reputable Steemian, not that reputation matters very much. It does matter a little, though, otherwise you wouldn't mind trading your current reputation with somebody at 25. Or maybe -4? If you could instantly add +3 to your current reputation, for free, would you? So reputation does have some effect and meaning, then.
As COPPA and the new Terms of Service (banning anything not commercially viable, and anything "borderline") come into effect on YouTube over the next few weeks, vloggers are scrambling for alternate sites.
With STEEM in the dumps, people are passing over platforms using it, like DTube and 3Speak. The STEEM price continues to fall, now about 0.12 USD each, and participation is way down. Platforms like Bitchute and Flote are growing in size quickly, and I keep seeing people mention them on YouTube.
I'm now also on Flote and Bitchute, and trying to build my audiences there. I highly recommend both sites, for being free, well-supported, easy to signup and use, censorship-resistant, and private. Flote is probably the best though, since it does everything Bitchute does and a lot more. Also, Bitchute requires 3rd-party software if you want to make comments or replies. See you on Flote?

The social media world is in turmoil right now. Millions of YouTubers are facing instant and complete deletion any day. People are deleting videos like crazy. So is YouTube. What a mess!

I haven't really heard anything about those other platforms. I would like to think people would try DTube too, but yeah ...Steem activity has become rather anemic.

I think it's going to take a lot more to get people to migrate over. There needs to be more education about crypto and how the whole space works before people will want to delve in and actually invest into the platform.
There will be plenty of new people attracted to earning crypto through Steem but the problem is that all of them will be primarily interested in selling it rather than accumulating more.
