I agree so much with you!... Steem is making such a great difference distributing the wealth, specially for musicians... I remember when we launched our first album with our band @echoes, we sold a lot of copies worldwide, tough we rarely saw any of those gains, and most of the money we got back barely covered all the debts we had... Now sharing our music on steemit (dsound) is actually giving us much more rewards, there is no middle man taking a stake and we aren't spending anything on advertising... And this is just the beginning...
I hardly doubt facebook or instagram will ever compete or create their own token to reward their users... They may start using cryptocurrencies in many different ways, they will look to a way to benefit them self and not the users, we must remember that those are centralized platforms and all they want is make money, and they can do a lot more if they incorporate cryptos, like accepting cryptos as a pay for advertisement etc
