STEEM and SBD at Parity

in #steem6 years ago

It's been happening quite a lot during the last 3-4 days, but I finally got a chance to catch the perfect screenshot, on steem.supply:

No, it's not photoshopped and yes, it happened less than an hour ago.

I think we can expect to see more fluctuation around this point, as SBD supply is steadily increasing.

And just to put things in perspective, please remember that the base currency on the Steem blockchain is STEEM, with a circulating supply of over 245 million, whereas SBD is just a debt smart contract on top of STEEM, with a circulating supply of less than 7 million. That doesn't mean SBD can't get another pump, or STEEM can't go to the moon, but it's good to know numbers.

Wanna know when you're getting paid?

I know the feeling. That's why I created steem.supply, an easy to use and accurate tool for calculating your Steemit rewards

It's free to use, but if you think this is a useful addition, I'd appreciate your witness vote.

Thank you!

I was just wondering these days if this is happening now(the parity) will the percents of author payout come back to normal ? if they will what will happen then ?

this looks to me like whatever the community decision will be you can't really get it right..

I don't think the parity may affect the payout distribution, probably the SBD coming down to the peg will do, and it may be like it initially was: 50% in SBD + liquid STEEM, and 50% in Steem Power.

Do you think it wont go back to massive disproportion of price of SBD?
They are being produced as same rate, right?

They are being produced as same rate, right?

It depends on what you mean by "the same rate". SBD supply is increased because of the price feed bias set by a few witnesses, so it's more SBD than usual, but also far less SBD produced than STEEM.

The inflation rate didn't change.

I mean. Theres some 2M USD worth of steem produced in a week.
75% goes do users. If I get standard payout 50% is directly in Steem and that other 50% goes to main Steemit account which sells it on internal market for SBD (?).

Ex: Right now theres a 1:1 price ratio.
So my post gets $ 10.
I get (approx.) 7.5 SBD payout - 3.75 Steem and 3.75 SBD.....
But thats not the case. Why?

First: there are 43,000 STEEM tokens printed every day, so in a week we have 301,000 STEEM tokens. At the current price, $3.6, that means $1,083,600.

Second:

If I get standard payout 50% is directly in Steem and that other 50% goes to main Steemit account which sells it on internal market for SBD (?).

I don't think I understand that. What Steemit account?

Third:

I get (approx.) 7.5 SBD payout - 3.75 Steem and 3.5 SBD.....

Almost right. You get 3.5 SBD, but you don't get 3.75 STEEM, you get $3.75 worth of STEEM. Please have a look at this reward calculator here.

Thanks for clarification :)

By Steemit account I meant the default account hold most of the Steem, delegating to new users.

In my example, I should get 2.2 Steem (7.5 / current Steem price).
I get 1.1 as SP, but that other 1.1 is produced as well, right? Does it go to the internal market or where?

In order to give me promise in form of SBD, there needs to be according amount of Steem produced.

I was hoping that SBD would still be a bit higher today so I could use it to buy the dip. But since it too has gone down a lot, it's not economic for me to d so. Bugger.

So I'll accrue some more and wait for the next pump. And then.... watch out crypto world!

I'm trying this as well, for a change (until now I sold at market price and powered up significantly). I'm curious how this will pay out :)

I focus on building STEEM but might grab some SBD, expecting another pump at some point.

I remember not even a month ago SBD was at 12 Dollars and Steem at 6 Dollars. Gotta love the cryptoworld :-D

I wonder as we move forward how much this will affect rewards. It seems we will be earning less steem when converting SBD to steem in a 50/50. However this may raise steem prices. Thanks.

Does this means that steem and sbd distribution in payout will be around 50/50 percent? ???
Did the witnesses started modifying their price feed???

as far as I know the price feeds bias is not modified yet.

Tomorrow I will receive my first Payout from Power Down, and I will buy some SBD. Why? Crazy? No way. It happens that some of the Steem I currently have came from buying up to 3 Steem per SBD. In addition I need SBD for betting at the horse 🐴 Bot Bidding Game.

without reason I feel worried, I did not put money in steem, I only used steemit to provide Steem. But this is not a nice feeling, what do you think is going to happen? I have the feeling we are going to fall.

There are only two things that may happen:

  • the price will go up
  • the price will go down

So, why worry?

going up I would not worry :-) going down till it does not exist anymore ? ...

I have to tell you, this made me giggle all day! Whenever someone asked me something today, (You have to know I am massaging all day as a health therapist), and someone ask will it go better with my hip? knee? throat? and liver? ( my problem people today) Ithought It might go better, or it might go worse, for now do not worry! hahaha thank you!

I saw Steem at 3.9 and SBD at 3.7. :)
