Public and political opinions change very similar to how weather changes. The changes can be unpredictable, and in some cases devastating for those who don't see it coming. Every country has a unique political climate and this includes the United States for those wondering. The political climate sets the tone for all travelers who visit the country and for those living within a country. By understanding the current political climate of a country we can also make sense of our observations of behaviors which emerge in different countries or even different parts of the same country.

The Political Climate of Steem

This concept of political climate goes beyond countries. Online communities including Steem have political climates which can be studied, tracked, interpreted. Steem for example has had a political climate of disagreement about the reward structure and reward distribution going back to the very birth of Steem. This particular climate quirk could have been predicted by the fact that Steem uses publicly revealed monetary rewards as a mechanism to curate content. Resource allocation disputes were likely to emerge just from the fact that resource allocation patterns are public knowledge.

Conclusion

Political climate awareness in my opinion needs to be higher. When people travel it is good to know what the political cimate is in the country you intend to visit. When people interact with different online communities each with different political climates it is important in my opinion to know what the current political disputes are, the factions, the thought leaders, even if you do not intend to take a side. In my opinion tools need to be created to improve this capacity for political climate awareness in the form of sentiment analytics and polling. In addition, some people in the Steem community in particular can make a business out of analyzing the political climate and interpreting (simplifying) the result into an annual report.
