Best of Steemit Every Day

Best of the Best Logo

Every day, I bring you eight posts you should think hard about upvoting and supporting. These are quality posts, well written and good examples of the best the community has to offer. Please consider checking them out, and if you agree, love them up.

All about the unusual, the clever, the out-of-the-ordinary today. New voices in fiction, the first vlog winner on BestOf, and a great look at a historical topic I thought I understood, but was given a fresh perspective on by some great writing about the early days of World War II. As always, I strongly recommend following and supporting the creators of this terrific content.

Today's Best

Writing (Fiction): Eric The Robot: A Short Story by @andrewgenaille. Long for this medium, it’s nevertheless a good story with solid arc and excellent characterization, made especially difficult by the non-human protagonist. Good work from a new voice on Steemit. Here’s hoping we see much more.

Writing (Nonfiction): Sometimes Staying Alive Is More Than Enough by @lauralemons. As a teacher of junior high kids, I see this kind of thing all the time, and I can’t recommend this post highly enough. There is a load of great information here about how to deal with depression and anxiety, in ourselves and others.

Writing (Craft): Writing? Just Start Writing by @malice. I’ve blogged about this myself. I think writers block is a silly concept. Just write. Start typing stuff. Yes, it will suck. So what? You don’t have to use it. But if you don’t start typing, you’ll never get to the stuff you can use. Great video here from @malice. We look forward to more.

Steemit community: The Unsung Hero Of Steem (1) by @kryptoknightk. I’m a sucker for posts that promote others for the good work they’re doing. Here’s a terrific shout out to @veddu for his help in getting minnows to grow, and here’s my promotion of the both of them. There are great people in this community.

Introduceyourself: Destination Unkown by @armandvanrooyen. One of the shortest posts ever to be featured on BestOf. Also one of the most clever. I hope this is a trend with Captain vanRooyen.

Steem: With Great Steem Power Comes Great Responsibility by @coininstant. Lots of posts today about HF19, but few of them are concentrating where this one does--on our responsibilities as Steemians, now that that responsibility has been multiplied many times by the new algorithm. Great post on some things to think about with our newfound power.

Photography: Best of Banff by @daveks. Terrific photography of one of nature’s most beautiful places. There’s much good photography on Steemit, but this post stood out as one of the best.

Special Prize: History: Radio, Speed, and Penetration: The Defining Elements of Blitzkrieg by @agentdcf. Often, there are poorly-understood technological reasons behind momentous changes in strategy. Here’s one often overlooked, brought very neatly to life in a great post.

As always, suggestions for posts to honor are gratefully accepted.

Rules of the Best Of:

I don't like grammar and spelling errors. I make them, but I hate them. Unless the post is supremely brilliant, even a couple of these--especially in the title--will mean it doesn't make this list. NOTE: if you're writing in your second language, significant slack will be given here. When I write in my second language, I'm lucky if I can be understood at all.

Minnows--I am a minnow, and I'm all in on support for the newbies. Doesn't mean I won't curate a whale post, but it's unlikely. If your rating is over 70, you don't need my help (for whatever it's worth).

I don't do porn, however artful.

Original content only.

I take requests. Gratefully. But not for your own work. Push someone else into the spotlight.

Hi, thank you for sharing, following you ^^

My recent post is a short story of when I had a gun pulled on me for giving away Krispy Kreme donuts:

Wow! With a hook like that, I'll check it out for sure.

Hahaha!! Thanks!! It's a true story too!!!

Really? Wow. That's very interesting. Glad you posted it.

Cool idea! I'm off to check out your eight recommendations.

PS: I recommend you check out @yogattitude! She's new and has great videos: anything that makes you step away from Steemit for a few minutes to stretch is probably a good thing!

Thanks! I'm glad you stopped by.
