We're still in early days here on Steem. But look how far we've come!
I'm still pretty new here, or at least young on the Steem platform. I arrived just a short time before the big, hyped-up Hardfork 19. The excitement was electric, and there was so much buzz going on. And Steem was under $1.
$1!!!
As HF19 took hold, Steem took off to new highs, and went all the way up to about $2.50 in July. It was party time for a while, before slowly, but steadily Steem drifted back down over the next 3 months, and held on to the $1 level for the rest of the year, and the hype got quieter and quieter. In January we had a huge pump! Bothe STEEM and SBD took off, and again there were shouts of acclamation the STEEM was heading to the moon! Well, we're heading back down, and things have gotten quieter. Crypto has been in the crosshairs of governments all over for many reasons... the main one probably being that is is disrupting the control which they and the banking system has over us all.
But Steem is growing! We're adding accounts at sometimes rates in the 10k per day. The platform is processing more transactions per day than almost any other blochain out there, and we're all still earning STEEM for our efforts. It's just not worth as much as it was in January.
It is still up there where it was at the peak of the July pump, and seems to be doing fairy well when ypu look at the big, long term picture.
We'll have ups and downs, and then more ups and downs as the platform matures. Sure there are internal conflicts here and there, but from where I'm sitting, those are just little blips which will pass before new conflicts arise. It's not going to kill the platform unless we let it.
Look what positives there are here! Communities are growing, friends are being made, and we're making a difference out in the real world with various Steem charity events.

Definitely in for the long haul, and even though the price has settled, I'm glad I didn't cash out in Jan during all the hype. I think we have even more exciting times ahead.
For sure man! I think the waves will get bigger amd bigger, and hopefully the troughs become shallower too. Still so much intapped potential to be realised.
