And although people mainly complain about bid bots because organic curation is disappearing, they're also responsible for the lack of delegations to worthwhile projects in the STEEM ecosystem.
As you say, when people can make a tangible return on their investment from selling votes, why would they bother supporting community projects through delegation.
Bid Bots aren't just killing curation, they're killing innovation.
There's a reason why @ned created @misterdelegation and funded it accordingly, but that system has failed the developers of this platform.
We'd like our backstory to include, Steemit INC as a supporter of innovation but right now it hasn't played any part in our journey so is unlikely to be worth a mention in our upcoming press releases.
Maybe we aren't worthy of delegation, or maybe we need to find a platform that thinks we are.
What people don't realise is apps like ours are like STEEM faucets, we help to distribute STEEM to people outside of this ecosystem.
Inward facing apps, just serve the existing market. We want to see STEEM grow to it's full potential and empower others to adopt the STEEM Blockchain.

Yes, I totally agree with that Steemit can support more projects like yours which attracts users from outside. Sometimes using bid bots to promote some post is helpful, but the problem happens when everyone needs to use bid bots. Most of SPs are gathering in bid bots. Many posts need to use bid bots to make people read them. Then, I guess Steemit is likely to be a ad-based community.
Agreed Steemit is becoming more ad-based than curation based. Even with some healthy votes from whales, we are no where near the trending page.
And since we're looking for visibility we have no option but to use the bots. I'm sure many others feel like this too.
