Chemistry v Compatibility

Knowing the difference between chemistry and compatibility can make or break your relationships and the sooner you find out which is which, the better. So lets stop beating around the bush and get to it.

Chemistry

This is the energy, the vibe, that you should have when you are around someone that you think you have chemistry with:

1. You feel a magnetic pull to this person urging you to be close to them.
2. There is an excitement around this person and maybe a slight nervousness.
3. You feel aroused and want to tear their clothes off.
4. You have an urge to kiss them.
5. Their physical features stick our prominently to you.

There are many more but you get the jist. You are physically attracted to this person for some reason and you just have a natural attraction that is beyond words. You do not have to know this person at all, you could be passing this person on the subway or in the street and right away you are into each other. This is known as chemistry.

The problem with Chemistry

Most people might not want to hear this but its true. It can be hard to find. You could be searching for it for a long time. It can not be faked. But lets be honest why would you want to. When you find it, it can provide you with a feeling that is hard to come by and will take you a long way physically in a relationship.

Compatibility

This is how your morals, life goals, communication and ways of doing things align with one another. For example, how you wish to raise a family, how you like to communicate about issues, what interests that you have, what views you have on money. These could be seen as the deeper elements that provide a solid foundation to a relationship. These are the ingredients that have been built up over the years. Ingredients that you want to see in your relationship. These are the major points which dictate whether a relationship will be successful or not over the long term.

The challenges of compatibility

When your views of the world, your morals, principles align with your partner you are on a great path and have the blueprint for longevity but if you do not, this is the area you need to work on the most if you are serious about creating a lasting relationship. Whilst your views on the world are most likely deeply embedded into the sub conscious, it is possible to adapt or change them. But because they are so deeply embedded you will not want to change them without resistance. This is the challenge and most likely where the arguments and opposition will occur.

What Will Take You Further?

In my opinion, chemistry can not be faked whilst compatibility can be nurtured over time but this is just in my experience. Compatibility will be heavily based upon your cultural influences and so, you can always learn new ones even if it comes with opposition. But let’s be real to start with. Chemistry is what will initially pull you both together and will provide the right answers physically in your relationship. Its impossible to fake chemistry so when you and your partner have it, it will take you a long way. Compatibility is what will solidify your relationship and provide a resting foundation. So ultimately it is compatibility that will take your relationship to the next level of security as you have a partner who understands your emotional, moral and cultural needs and how you want to take on the world.
