RE: Can we get a definitive list of the top 100 human commentators on the Steem blockchain in 2018?
Hi @fitinfun
Sorry to hear you are not having the best of times this year, I hope the remainder is better than the first half.
I think you've covered pretty much everything and more on that post! The @trufflepig biggest loser has to be taken as a compliment I think!
My message to you, and only my personal opinion of course, is that perhaps it's time to angle your work towards the larger accounts, and maybe even one of the dapps. Working with a raft of minnows can be personally rewarding, but as far as account growth it is perhaps not the quickest method. dlike, might be an option if you don't fancy producing much video content, or perhaps steemhunt if you have any ideas there.
$25 a week, I need something like this! I'm actually considering some time in asia starting towards the end of this year (when the sun leaves Spain), and would really like a place near the sea that is secure (for my laptop which will be paying the bills). Is there somewhere you would suggest?
The beers were enjoyed, and now it's time to work again for my supper this week.
Take care
Asher
Oh, and placing on this list puts you in the top 100 on Steemit - that's over 1 million accounts. I think you can be pretty proud of that!
Yes, I love my little pig friend. He gives me hope. I have gotten some votes and comments over the last weeks where people mention that is how they found me. So I'm good :)
I actually am working through all the apps now. I'm slow now due to the move but will be back on it when I get settled. This will be a new minnow tip post. So far busy is good for 1 post a day. And the ulog app can get good votes. I also post to steemiteducation and this is a good place.
And I have a big list of "big guys" to work through. I am going to use the @boddhisattva lists to see who is worth talking to. I did two days of whale/dolphin commenting kind of randomly about 6 weeks ago and it crushed my soul. So much bad came out of that. So I will try again :)
As far as SE Asia, I have been here over two years in 6 countries and have not yet seen a beach. I used to only live in beach towns in the states so this is very strange. I have felt safe most places I have been except in most taxis everywhere. This is prime ripoff territory so I try to use public transport. I stay in hostels with no privacy a lot and still feel safe.
For you, find out the visa rules for all countries you care about first. ake sure it is a friendly plac for you passport. Then look at the beach areas. Many beaches are unsafe and expensive if there are lots of tourists. but many are paradise too.
If you are on fb - join expat groups for the countries/cities/regions. They are a goldmine of info.
I love everywhere, so I'm not a good judge. I've been to:
Thailand - Bangkok and a northern Village - love both.
Cambodia Phnom Penh - loved it - very not safe. You have to watch out there
Laos - Ventianne - My least favorite. Very unhappy place to me. Very dirty. Full of rich people doing charity NGO work in big vans. contrasted with very poor people and lots of blown of limbs. Thanks USA!
Malaysia - KL and Penang - Love it the most next to Thailand. Great people, clean, good food, cheap.
Myanmar - Love it too. Completely different world than anywhere. So cut off. Cheap. Has unspoiled beaches, so I hear.
Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City. I loved it, but it is not convenient and traffic filled. I hav elots of online friends there in other parts of the country who never want to leave.
But there are so many more countries. Just make a list and work through it. Almost everywhere is way cheaper that the west. The people are at least 90% welcoming everywhere. I'm glad I came and even though I am in such a mess now, I have no regrets except not doing this sooner when I could have brought my son, @bxlphabet. He is in his own mess in California and I wish he was here.
I am thrilled to be in the top 100 and now need to be in the top 99!
Wow, thank you very much for all the helpful advice! I guess I need to start looking into this a lot more seriously if I want to make it work, and keep my stuff safe.
That could be a plan, I see @chinadaily have something not dissimilar out also. Although, checking that list today I did see a number of accounts who I suspect are not really engaging and casting votes on others...
Good luck all the same, and I hope your 25% a week hostel suits you well.
Cheers!
