How To Transfer Steem from Poloniex to Your Wallet

in #steem-help8 years ago

This is one of those things I thought would be simple, but took me a little while to figure out.

To save you the pain, just follow along below.

Ok, here’s what the Poloniex Steem withdrawal page looks like:
But which address? And what the heck is memo?

Address refers to your Steemit account name, aka your handle. Mine is g-dbubs.

Memo refers to one of your Steem permissions. Whatever that means. Basically, this is the address you need to send Steem to Steemit.

To find it click on your wallet. Then click on the ‘Permissions’ tab. You’ll see four permission keys. You want the fourth one labeled ‘MEMO.’ Looks like this:

So now you know what to fill in…

Now you can send yourself some Steem and Power Up!

Actually you can leave the memo empty

really, just the name. good to know, thanks!

@knircky I was about to reply with just that, but you beat me too it. No memo is required. Your username is sufficient.

poloniex is a great website for trading all kinds of crypto currencies, i myself have been using it as a wallet for around a year now and can confirm they are a very secure option for your steem, and there transaction fees are very fair.

i like poloniex too but move my cryptos to a wallet

You should have more likes for this post. Short and informative. Thank you.

Hi g-dubs, remember memo is public and it is not required, unless you are moving steem back to Poloniex or Bittrex, since they use the same account for every client the memo is to identify to whom does the steem belongs.

Thanks for this post, I have spent hours trying to find how to do this, now I just need to spend another few hours trying to find out how to SEND steem to the exchange.

this is already a very elegant variant to transfer steem.
with blocktrades.us it is more comfortable to do it because you dont have to sign up and do "exchange stuff". but it is a little bit more expensive.

your explanation is very good.
and once someone figured out how to do this it isnt really difficult anymore.
But i am pretty sure it will be even more easy in the next month to do it and in a few years you'll maybe dont need to use bitcoin or crypto exchanges.

does it still take more than a week to get STEEM out of poloniex and into your steemit account?

Thank you for your help. You solved my problems.
