STEEM EVM Update: 140K Blocks, Bridge Module Optimization & Explorer Indexing
Note: Upvoting and resteeming this post directly motivates me to continue building and improving the Steem Virtual Machine ecosystem. Your support is greatly appreciated!
The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience and stability. Today, I am pleased to announce that the network has officially crossed 140,000 blocks produced. The chain remains healthy, secure, and fully operational as we continue to refine the underlying infrastructure for the upcoming public launch.

Technical Update: Bridge Module Optimization
During routine monitoring, I identified a minor inefficiency in the bridge module's interaction with the bank module.
The Issue:
The bridge module is designed to handle gas-exempt transactions for incoming assets. However, when a transaction is sent to the svm.bank account with an invalid or mismatched memo, the minting process correctly fails to execute. While this does not result in any loss of funds or security vulnerabilities, it currently generates "noise" by submitting these failed attempts to the gas-exempt module.
The Fix:
This is not a critical bug, but it does create unnecessary overhead. I will be deploying a fix in the next update to filter out invalid memos before they reach the gas-exempt handler. This will streamline the bridging process and reduce redundant processing load on the validators.
Explorer Indexing Status
I have also noticed a discrepancy in the BlockScout explorer (evmscan.steemscanner.com). The interface currently reports that the chain is only 99% indexed from the beginning.
Given that the chain has produced over 140,000 blocks with zero failures, this is likely a synchronization or deployment issue with the indexer service rather than a blockchain problem. I am currently investigating the root cause to ensure that 100% of historical data is accurately reflected in the explorer.
Network Health & Statistics
Despite these minor backend optimizations, the user-facing experience remains flawless.
Current Network Stats:
- Total Blocks Produced: 140,000+
- Total Transactions: 650+
- Average Block Time: ~6.8 seconds
- Active Validators: 10
- Chain Status: Healthy & Sound
📢 Call for Validators: 5M SHERPA Reward
We are still actively seeking more community members to run validator nodes.
💰 Genesis Reward: 5M SHERPA Pool
A dedicated bucket of 5,000,000 SHERPA tokens will be distributed equally among all validators who join and remain active prior to August 1, 2026.
With the network proving its stability and the codebase becoming more refined, now is an excellent time to join the validator set.
