Exchange Transfer Report Summary: 06/01/2016 to 08/19/2016
I love the transparency of the blockchain. I've analyzed the transfer data to and from known exchange accounts to get a feel for the demand for STEEM and SBD on the open market. If value is heading to an exchange (positive number), accounts are withdrawing value from Steemit. If value is heading to an account from an exchange (negative number), accounts are depositing value into Steemit.
Previously I reported on the top 50 accounts which are depositing and withdrawing value from Steemit based on their exchange transfers.
I'll publish a new weekly report on Monday as well.
Today's report is a little different, as it just focuses on the exchange totals per day. Again, if a number is positive, that means value was transferred from a user account to an exchange account. If a number is negative, that means value was transferred from an exchange account to a user account. I've included the raw data along with a graph and a link to an interactive graph of the data.
I've done three separate reports for USD, SBD, and STEEM. For the USD report, I had the follow rates plugged in at the time the data was processed:

- SBD: $0.86

Comments
- Other than a few negative days, it seems most value is heading out towards exchanges, and isn't moving back into Steemit accounts.
- Lately it looks like accounts are transferring SBD out of exchanges and back into Steemit.
- The large transfer days appear to be the
steemitaccount moving things around, other than when Poloniex launched.

Yummy data. :) I like looking at what is to figure out what might be in the future.
Thanks for the data. It appears some investors feel that they can buy steem dollars at a discount and convert to steem, and be better off. The risk is that one needs to wait a week and the steem market could plummet while you wait.
Or they could just be holding SBD to get the 10% interest.
If I were a speculator, I would prefer making 16% in one week rather than 10% in one year, if the market can hold up.

$0.14/$0.86 equals a little over 16%. (You get a dollar worth of steem if you convert steem dollars to steem.)
@bones: Gotcha. I was thinking in terms of 14 out of 100. Makes sense how you have it.
Since the token 1 SD is pegged to 1 USD, you'd think it would trade on par soon (currently at .89 cents). Combine the difference with the 10% annual interest that's a "risk free rate" of 20% buying SD dollars right now minus any trans fees. I saw SD trade at $1.35 back in that bull market we had last month.
That's a lot of data.

I think it's definitely having an effect. Most other new cryptocurrencies get pumped and dumped to oblivion. This one, so far, is sticking around. I know I've powered up my earnings, and I'm not alone.
No doubt the system base on transparency , you have explained excellent, i think there are many factors involves of transferring to exchangers or back to steemit. it depends on user and also on the trading environment and later on user decision for getting more power to earn next huge from steemit so the user again come back to steemit with Steem dollars.
I'd like to see this mapped to the price of STEEM. I think we would see a pattern of tokens being sent from user accounts to the exchanges at higher prices than they return with... Over time, I think it would show a large amount of value "leaving" the site. Of course, that simply means a large amount of money earned by the site's users, so it really shouldn't be considered "lost"...
Do you know of a public api with price tracking over time? As in, What was the price of STEEM and SBD on July 1st?
sbd_exchange_rate is basically the price of steem in usd. I think any node should have that, but I'm not sure
I was playing with that earlier and it didn't seem to match up with what I was seeing on steemprices. I'm also not sure if you can get a rate at a given point in time.
I do it manually, but I check steemd.com and look at witnesses when they publish the price feed.... @delegate.lafona is very consistent.
