Seoul is currently the steemit capital, with Australia late to the party but showing up in style.
Move over London and New York, there's a new sheriff in town ;)
At least this last week that is.
It's hard to say if more traffic is routed by ISP's through certain cities and where exactly the "not set" traffic is coming from, but right now Seoul, South Korea is striding out ahead of the rest, with close to 3% of all traffic to steemit.com, originating there.
That is 150% to almost 200% larger than its nearest rivals, London and New York.
It is not possible that all web traffic for the country is routed via Seoul as smaller dots are found all over South Korea.
The US and Canadian cities are to be expected in the top ten (North America is the largest traffic by region) but what is Warsaw doing there?
Australia has been a bit of a dark horse, but now suddenly traffic is surging, with two cities in the top ten.
Regional traffic has topped out at roughly double or previous records but not so for Eastern Asia (which is dominated by South Korean traffic)
It is now at levels 4 to 5 times last years record highs and just keeps climbing.
This is all great news.
Any developers that localize a Korean version of one of the STEEM blockchain web interfaces could find themselves with a very intriguing opportunity, by being first to market to this viral community.
Also the interest from various exchanges, in the region, to list STEEM is an exiting prospect. This will give users in those regions a direct on-ramp to STEEM from local currencies without having to go through the dinosaur bitcoin.
Once experiencing the speed and fee-less utility of STEEM, why would anyone in those regions utilize bitcoin as their gateway unless they really had to.
The kinds of volumes that Asian exchanges generate are astounding. This could be a real game changer for STEEM as a currency.

Unfortunately, despite this growth, there is a lot of negativity on
kr
community now. Please read and resteem this post: Are Korean Posts Really Overvalued?I am also just informed by a Korean member who joined 12 days ago that his first $100+ post was downvoted (so from $140 to $20). The post has 300+ views and 23 comments at the moment. He is so discouraged now.
i was sad..
relay my article is shit..? i can't understand huge power downvote without any comment.
this is my aritlce.
i think $20 is not small. but, many people see my aritcle and vote this and them accumulate $100.
and.. some people's downvote me. without any comment.
they are hate me? or korean? why?
All those accounts belong to the same person. He is downvoting every high paying post that isn't done by his inner circle of friends.
How does he have so many phone numbers? Or can you use the same number for more than one account? Or perhaps one of those apps that give you a number to get SMS...blame N. Korea!
Anonsteem allows you to start accounts without a phone number so that might have something to do with it.
Reeeeally? That doesn't seem very fair to those who are legit with one account attached to their phone numbers. That should be fixed otherwise things can get out of hand in my opinion. I could just have 1,000 accounts with ten buddies and just upvote crap day and night and destroy people actually putting themselves into posts and not trying to game the system. Could be a big problem for STEEMIT if it gets out of control dont you think?
You still have to pay for the Steem to power up new accounts.
Hello! As you'll see, most of them are westeners. Also, to make you feel better, it looks like someone is a bad programmer and @yougotflagged doesn't work as it should. Same thing for @steemservices and @thebotkiller.
As for the other users, people can be jealous when they see someone else doing good. Most of the ones who downvoted you don't have a single post themselves. It's not against you. They maybe just go around downvoting because they have a sad life.
thank you.
they has many powers. but i am not more powerful then they are.
they are getting more powers than me in the same time.
i can't be happy in this situation.
but i will not give up.
i was not wrong, and not alone.
steem community peoples are work for more good.
they will be fixed.
I see you are a programmer. The github for Steemit is public, so you can open an issue. https://github.com/steemit/steem It's in English, so I don't know if that's a problem, but it's better to be heard!
thank you. yes i am programmer and i follow your idea.
it was not simply issue. yes. it is better.
or they might have a shit tone of steem.
I really hate downvoters. Either upvote or don't vote at all. Stop messing with people's money and reputation. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean the post does not have value!
They need to correlate the power of one's down vote directly to the quality and quantity of that users content in order to prevent weaponized down voti g.
Look at bernie's response to a newbie member, flagging and hiding.
Tell them to not lose hope and wait till Monday.
Monday ??
What's going to happen?
EOS will be revealed, which will give a huge boost to Steem. ;) Hold on.
Already excited :)
BUY CRYPTOES SEEL THE US DOLLAR
The dollar will begin its 18 year cycle with a 9 year downturn period to the eurocurrencies as it always has done. This will probably be very bullish for precious metal too.
Check out this post for more on the cycles of weakening US dollar and the current state of the dollar.

I have talked about this with friends, and 'toxic' behavior is difficult to avoid. Getting to reddit levels of downvoting without seeing the post might not become the case, but as the community grows, 'toxic' or jealous people are bound to join as well.
This is interesting.
Followed.
I think that an example of crab mentality thing. So sad. 🙁😔
Indonesia will be the next, i will invite everybody to post here to make an acesystem bigger.
I am looking forward to Indonesia's growth!
Do your best...
I for one
submit towelcome our new Korean overlords!I'm with you there!!!
Haha :D
😂😂lol
Awesome work, really amazing how Steemit is doing these days, it is getting viral!
Viral is definitely the best word to describe the growth in Asia.
I love it when the prices on the markets are rising, its the best kind of marketing there is. The rewards are larger and word of mouth takes over.
Well Im used to Korean dominance since I play League of Legends. They won the World Championship over the last 4 years. I'm learning korean on steemit, getting ready to be assimilated :3
Assimilation... is inevitable.
안녕?나는토비라고해
Imagine if China get son it... OMG! Steem nuke :D
It surely will happen :)
Not sure they are able to use it..
Google dont even work over there. They have their own version of that
I can't wait for that!!!
That might be hard work as China does not use the World Wide Web. I believe they have the China net or something...
there are ways around and through the great firewall of China
Well said!
They use WWW for sure... lol.... only some websites are forbidden (google.com for one). A bigger difference is that they develop their own set of internet services: no facebook, no twitter... but wechat.
A new YOYOW project is coming.. on Graphene as well (similar to steem). This is developed by a pure Chinese team so I think they will work better with the Chinese regulations/culture. Steem, on the other hand, can play the role of bridging China to the world and vice versa (so, no censorship). It is a smaller market (as compared with the whole China market) but still big enough to be significant.
My 2 cents.
I can't wait to see what the Steemit world is like a year from now. Do you foresee any governments or organizations trying to block steemit?
Even small country (Kathmandu, NEPAL) like mine is showing active. The flame is rising, let this wild fire go where it wants to go
I feel pretty much alone here where I am, next to the north pole ;-)
Probably cold too?
Surprisingly not so cold, no.
here is my though, why Indonesia will be the next big author in steem.
thats all..
if you have any reason, complete it..
Hello from Australia :)
Welcome OZ
