Another day, another review.
This time we will be touching upon a dapp with a very simple premise. There is nothing complicated about using this dapp and there is no complex learning curve involved.

Dpoll is just what its name says it is. Its a polling dapp that is built on the STEEM blockchain.

If you have a question or a decision that needs to be made, for which you would like to gather opinions, using Dpoll is the best choice for that. For STEEM users its undoubtedly the go to dapp for that but i believe the appeal might exist for external users as well.

Through Dpoll you have access to a large community of individuals that are, for most part, interested in "modern technology" which includes a vast variety of topics.

For a marketing firm that might be interested in collecting data on various products, trends, etc. in specific tech related topics, having access to such a group of individuals with such developed knowledge on those specific topics could prove very beneficial.

Choosing a representative sample is one of the biggest hurdles in data collection and having a reliable tool with Dpoll, along with incentivized contribution (via @dpoll.curation) and a very cohesive target group could help overcome that hurdle.

Site design:

For a dapp with a simple task/premise the site is designed in the same manner. Simple. On one side i understand why that is but on the other it seems to lack visual appeal or a contemporary visual style that would appeal to the mainstream. While i can agree with the straight forward approach i still believe that the site would benefit from a more updated look.

The straight forward, "no information overload" approach is very refreshing . The only thing i found lacking is the visual design.

Suggestions:

Most of my suggestions/criticisms stem from the current restrictions of STEEM front ends. (As i understand it from the Dtube case)
What i think would bring a lot to Dpoll usability and what i find to be one of the most necessary updates to the dapp is the ability to embed the poll made on "Dpoll" to a blog post, comment, article instead of Steemit (or whatever front end) creating a non-interactive list of questions and answers.
Having the ability to embed the poll information on various websites that arent associated with STEEM, with the poll (maybe) recommending you to create a STEEM account, before voting (with all the benefits presented), would be another great addition that could increase mainstream adoption.

Even though Dpoll might not be a revolutionary new idea in the blockchain ecosystem, it is without a doubt a necessary one. It does not solve problems that havent been solved already by other similar sites, but what it does do is solve those problems better through the use of the power of the STEEM blockchain.

For the STEEM user there is no doubt in the utility of Dpoll. For the external user the only doubt that can exist comes from the faith, or lack thereof, in blockchain technology and the decision on what side of history he/she wants to be.
You could say that blockchain makes everything better.

That might not always be true, but in this case it just might be.
