State of Origin - Game 2 (Sydney)

in #stateoforigin7 years ago

Hey there fellow Rugby League fans,

With State of Origin game 2 in Sydney tonight (8:12pm approximate kickoff), I think it would be a good idea to go through the team lists and briefly break down which team will take it out and why. Also would like to hear thoughts on any inclusions/exclusions you think each team should have made coming into this game.

The team lists are as follows:

NSW

  1. James Tedesco (West Tigers)
  2. Blake Ferguson (Sydney Roosters)
  3. Josh Dugan (St George Illawarra Dragons)
  4. Jarryd Hayne (Gold Coast Titans)
  5. Brett Morris (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs)
  6. James Maloney (Cronulla Sharks)
  7. Mitchell Pearce (Sydney Roosters)
  8. Aaron Woods (West Tigers)
  9. Nathan Peats (Gold Coast Titans)
  10. Andrew Fifita (Cronulla Sharks)
  11. Josh Jackson (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs)
  12. Boyd Cordner (c) (Sydney Roosters)
  13. Tyson Frizell (St George Illawarra Dragons)

Interchange - 14. David Klemmer (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs), 15. Wade Graham (Cronulla Sharks), 16. Jake Trbojevic (Manly Warringah Sea Eagles), 17. Jack Bird (Cronulla Sharks)

QLD

  1. Billy Slater (Melbourne Storm)
  2. Valentine Holmes (Cronulla Sharks)
  3. Will Chambers (Melbourne Storm)
  4. Darius Boyd (Brisbane Broncos)
  5. Dane Gagai (Newcastle Knights)
  6. Johnathan Thurston (North Queensland Cowboys)
  7. Cooper Cronk (Melbourne Storm)
  8. Dylan Napa (Sydney Roosters)
  9. Cameron Smith (c) (Melbourne Storm)
  10. Jarrod Wallace (Gold Coast Titans)
  11. Gavin Cooper (North Queensland Cowboys)
  12. Matt Gillett (Brisbane Broncos)
  13. Josh McGuire (Brisbane Broncos)

Interchange - 14. Michael Morgan (North Queensland Cowboys), 15. Josh Papalii (Canberra Raiders), 16. Coen Hess (North Queensland Cowboys), 17. Tim Glasby (Melbourne Storm)

Me personally, as per game 1, I believe the Queensland forward pack wont be able to match the NSW pack for the full 80 minutes. The NSW main point of difference is through their bench, which is so versatile that no matter where potential injuries might arise throughout the game they will be able to fill them comfortably. In saying that however, I do think this game will go down to the wire and the difference will be a field goal/penalty goal.
