Obi-Wan vs Darth scene "remastered"

in #star-wars5 years ago (edited)

Like most people my age, I have extremely fond memories of the original Star Wars Trilogy. I will admit, however, that certain aspects of it, such as a vast majority of the light sabre battles were a little disappointing from a choreography point of view (at least by today's standards>

An amazing group of people calling themselves "FXitinPost" redid the famous battle between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader and call this 6minute plus display "Scene 38 ReImagined."

Considering that they don't have a massive budget it is truly remarkable what they have done here. I mean this looks absolutely brilliant and although they have not revealed how much money they spent it still looks very polished. There are a few scenes such as the editing of Alec Guinness' face onto Obi's body that could use some improvement, but I'm not going to criticize that too much since I can't even begin to imagine how difficult that is.

I think that this scene is the perfect balance of classic Star Wars and today's expectations of action films. This is the reason why everyone really loved the final scene in Rogue One and is a big part of the reason why I feel Rogue One is one of the better ones in the entire series of films (that and the fact that most of the films release before and after Rogue One were pretty crap - not including original masterpieces of course.)

The later films, especially EP 1,2,3 went too far with the swordplay and CGI and even though it was visually appealing I think the stark contrast between them and the original trilogy actually made it seem kind of dumb. This "re-imagining" of the great story, but sometimes rather "ho hum" action of the original trilogy is amazing to an old-school fanboi like me. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Wow that was awesome! They should really start a petition to get that inserted into A New Hope.. i agree with you btw about the newer movies vs Rogue One. The prequels were overly saturated with CGI, making it difficult for the actors to portray any genuine in the moment emotion..

They were also too centered on exposition.. too much dialog and plot thrown in.. George should have trusted that fans would be able to fill in the story gaps on their own, rather than trying to spell every intricate detail out.. it made the movies.. boring and lost the audience. I did like the podrace and the darth maul fight..

I also sort of enjoyed Force Awakens.. it definitely brought things back to its roots, but maybe too much... it was a carbon copy of A New Hope and Return of the Jedi.. death star and all..

the worst has to be episode 8.. that Last Jedi just lost the plot.. literally.. I fear we might be in GoT territory where there's not enough time to wrap everything up in less than 3 hours in a way that will satisfy fans.. guess we'll see in December!

i agree with 100% of what you wrote there... haha

With the way the Star Wars franchise is going, that team could have years of reworking to fix the current mess....especially the last jedi abomination. Leia floats back to the ship...Rey's powers...no f'n way.

well that was bad / lazy storytelling... There was no shortage of visual masterwork in 8 but yeah, the story and the Leia flying and what not... super dumb.

I hate the fact that I can't watch Return of the Jedi anymore without the new Anakin showing up in the final scene. I think that is a bunch of crap. I think I have an old DVD copy that has the original actor. There are some things you should just leave alone. This is an exception though, it was pretty awesome.

yes those "remastered" DVD's of the original trilogy are just terrible. It was just CGI that really didn't need to be there and adds nothing to the scenes. Family Guy does bits about this on a regular basis and they are totally on point.

I don't watch it much, but Family Guy usually does a pretty good job touching on the important stuff :)

The 3 Star Wars episodes are incredible. They are longer than normal episodes and are definitely worth seeing if you have a chance.

Wow! This was my favourite movie! Thanks for sharing this. I always wanted to take lessons on sword fighting!

Sometimes only once scene can make a huge difference

Incredibly talented cast.
