STACH POETRY SLAM CONTEST EPISODE 1 WINNERS --- Lets meet the poets

in #stachpoetry6 years ago (edited)

The very first edition of the STACH POETRY SLAM CONTEST was a huge success. We had submissions from 14 steemians:

@maribelquere97 @jesusw @dexter.weed @warpedpoetic @affirmation @four20 @ambdavid @josyweed @cyntibellar @yumifer @k-fashions @its-kg @bethelerics @nachomolina

Reading through every single one of these poems was very insightful and worth the time of the Judges:
@winarobert and @klynic

Choosing the finalists wasn't as easy as we thought and this was the case because every poet has the right to express him/herself using words that best portray the pictures within their minds eye, then again it is a contest and a winner must emerge.

LET's MEET OUR WINNERS

The theme of the just concluded poetry contest was HAPPINESS, and writers were asked to each write a poem of 4 stanzas portraying the feeling of happiness. They were also allowed to either use free-verses or verses that had a particular rhyme scheme. I hope you enjoy these poems as much as we did.

3rd runner up @bethelerics

From the crib coos a toothless babe
Beaming priceless smiles
As peeking rays spot its eyes
Laughter finds a friend

Like balsam on our sorrows
Worries mellow at its...read more here

The level of creativity in this poem was just mind-blowing for me. I read this poem a couple of times, each time ending with a smile. The author was able to project the emotion attached to the theme through his work. For me, that’s the core of poetry—sharing your emotions with words, getting others to feel how you felt when you drafted out the piece.@winarobert

2nd runner up @ambdavid

What on earth should make man SAD
When in fact He has God as a DAD
He wakes us up at our deepest NIGHTS
Who by His strength shields our FIGHTS

Ohhh Yes! we should be happy!

The builder who all our lives....read more here

This was another well-written post. It had a touch of humour to it at the end at least for me. It was a combination of basically everything. It had the flow as I read through it, it was simple and creativity while maintaining the theme for the contest.@winarobert

1st runner up @cyntibellar

I was a child
So were the others
Our world was small
Revolving around the village square
The sun was ours
Sent to brighten our day
The moon, a distant friend
That gladdened our nights

I loved mama's meals....read more here

We all can agree that Africa has a very rich cultural heritage. @cyntibellar reminds us of the beauty that accompanies the African child and the memories that cannot be ever forgotten. You cannot read this poem without a smile creasing your cheeks. @klynic

OUR WINNER [5SBD PRIZE]

@four20

Scent of flowers fill the air
lots of sunshine casting down on my skin bare

Frolicking in the morning light
from sun up to sundown, into the night

Fireflies light up the evening with ease
nothings more refreshing than a cool summer breeze

Laughter, laughter everywhere
the days of summer cause me no care

For me, this was simple and sweet. It depicted the topic in the simplest way and still came off outstanding. It had a certain flow to it, which made it interesting to read, especially out loud. I would have loved if each stanza was longer but still managed to maintain this simplicity. @winarobert

@four20 drove the nail right in with this very short and precise poem. This poem lacked the volume the others possessed but it had just enough words to preach happiness. @klynic

Thank you all for your continous support to the stach community. Feel free to follow these amazing poets and support them in anyway you can. Stay close to the stach blog for the update on the next Episode which is scheduled to commence this week.
