Sophia's Flute

The class was suddenly quiet.

Everyone turned to look at Betty. Betty stood up a little bit shaky and walked over to the front of the class.

She walked straight to her lecturer's table and submitted her write-up for the assignment she was about to present.

She was not a fan of public speaking and avoided it at all cost. For the past twenty years of her life, she could count the number of times she had stood in front of a crowd this big on just one hand.

But this was graduate school. You do not get out of public speaking by just feigning an illness.

She turned to face the class standing in front of Sophia's desk.
Everyone was waiting for her to speak, but the words just did not come.
Suddenly she felt something cold touch her shaking hands. She looked down and saw Sophia had put a flute of champagne in her hands.

"This would help", Sophia whispered.

Downing the drink in just one swallow, Betty suddenly experienced an adrenaline rush and finished her presentation in five minutes.

The applause that followed afterwards left her wondering, Just what did Sophia put in that champagne flute?
