Junk Is In The Eye Of The Beholder (And You Could Be Holdin' My Junk!)
I DO NOT MEAN MY TRUNK JUNK!
Yes, I posted a pic of my butt. I did it for the humor so laugh WITH me...OK?
What is "junk" to you? There are several things we designate as "junk" in this society. "Junk in the trunk" as illustrated above is generally considered a good thing, unless one is accused of "too much junk." The exact line between "adequate" and "too much" is apparently in the eye of the beholder. But do not be holdin' people's junk without their consent, that is considered "molestation." Just a friendly tip...
A lot of people will think of something like this when they hear the word "junk."
It is pretty old, I am saying it needs thrown out and declaring it is junk now. I were a junkie I would be really angry if someone gave me this and called it "junk." Junkies want "good junk" not bad junk and the "good junk" would be the kind most likely to kill them eventually. Again, interpretations of "junk" vary widely.
How about this? Would you call this "junk?" Hand it to a random stranger and ask them to tear it into bits, they will look at you like you have lost your mind. Take it to any merchant and they will sell you... a cup of coffee maybe but if you have more than one you can buy whatever you want. Very few people call this "junk" and yet the truth is, this is nothing but an elaborate "IOU" with no promise to ever pay anyone in real money, ever. It is only worth anything because Tinkerbelle showered us all with magic dust and made us BELIEVE it had value. Honestly, it is junk.
Yes, those master of tyranny, the mobsters from Jekyl Island have convinced us that fiat currency has value. Meanwhile, the people who play with actual tangible assets have, ironically, decreed that the only REAL MONEY still in circulation in the United States is "junk."
Yes, it is a little oxymoron / non sequitur in just two words... It is silver. Silver is junk...? To whom? It is used in hospitals and in space as a powerful antimicrobial. It is used in electronics for, well, everything. It is used in the solar industry, in old school photography, in jewelry, tableware... It may well be the single most useful element known to man. But those beholders... they like 99.999 PURE silver. This stuff has a bit of alloy in it so it is not quite so soft. "JUNK!" they cry!
Well, those purists can kiss the backsides of my junk.
And you may get to hold those backsides, and the frontsides too. All you have to do is get a little lucky when you take part of the steemsilvergold / ssg-community MONSTER RAFFLE #2!!! You can learn more in this post and when more details come out, I will let you know!
These four "junk" silver quarters are being donated to support the outstanding ssg-community and to help promote understanding and appreciation for the shiny! BUT WAIT!!! There is MORE!!! I am just reading the rules as I make this post and it seems there is a minimum value to prizes being donated. My quarters don't add up to enough... (How did I find that out? At this awesome site that tells you what your PRECIOUS METAL is worth in fiat dollars...
http://www.coinflation.com/silver_coin_values.html)
So, to get my donation up to that $15 mark I am throwing a lovely lady in with the old men.
GOOD LUCK
and thanks for stopping by!
I dig that junk in the trunk 😉
But seriously though
I never understood why old USA coins are called Junk Silver. If anything you’d think there should be a premium. I’m new to the metal market talk so don’t mind me if I sound foolish
But yea when I think of junk silver I think old rusted bars or something not coinage!
Is it because they are only 90% Silver maybe not .999 ??
That kinda makes a lil sense I guess but yea my mind doesn’t go to coinage!
Yes, it is because there is an alloy in them. When they stopped minting silver coins they made a big fuss about how they would NEVER be rare, so do not worry your silly head about collecting them... I suspect the use of "junk" was cooked up in some dark room by PR people to try to prevent all the coins from disappearing overnight. If you have never read the speech Lyndon Johnson gave when he pulled the coins, it is pretty interesting. http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=27108
Oh yea I heard about that speech. I’m
Gonna watch right now😀
Thanks ❤️
"Junk" silver is like "junk" in the trunk. It's a good thing. :)
It's nothing like "junk" addiction (heroin), or "junk" in the attic.
So hang on to your junk (silver). It may not be "fine" (like your "trunk"), but it's silver, and that's a beautiful thing.
My 100% is barely 4c right now but there you have it! I laughed out loud which is rare :p
Thanks, and thanks! Laughter is the best medicine they say. Unless something is actually WRONG, then you might want to try cannabis. THEN laugh... 😁
Heheheh, true again :D
Thanks for spreading the silver message.
I have some junk my grandpa gave me when I was little. A 1937 walking liberty and an 1888 Morgan silver dollar. None of the good stuff though.
I am not into numismatic values, but if by chance those are in good shape there is a chance they are worth WAY more than their silver content.
Yes and at this point their sentimental value will keep them in the family regardless of their value anyway :)
Love your sense of humour @fishyculture! Nice posting! It all for a good cause. I wish I had some silver to donate...
Thanks sweetie! It is hard for me to donate, I am part dragon... or part Gollum, or something... It is SHINY, we LIKES it, precious! lol!
Bwahahahaha! What ya gonna do with all that junk?
I'm just a junky junk junky!
And I am pretty sure it was themothership vote that put me over 59. I stepped away to answer the door and three votes rolled in while I was not there to see so I am giving a tip! to all three. I know you are not the mother ship, but you're the big daddy. 😘
