SteemSports 2k Giveaway Submission – The sport I love the most is Ultimate Frisbee

in #ss2kgiveaway7 years ago

I suck at being concise, therefore I will use first paragraph as an off-contest acknowledgment, which will be followed up by the 3 “contest paragraphs” and finalized by off-contest summarization. That way it should be compatible with the rules, but my heart reels with too much emotion to squeeze them into ONLY 3 PARAGRAPHS.

Acknowledgment

First of all I want to thank @gnocdepatat and @theprophet0 being something like a flag bearers of all the sport enthusiasts. Even though my sport taste is a bit different than what your te promotes, I believe that it can help attract sport enthusiasts, because I feel like this page still lacks them. Keep on doing what you’re doing, and maybe even host more contests! I’ll take everything that will bring sports-people to this platform :).

Contest

I have been born into a family where all the generations I remember played sports and both of my parents and my grandad for our National Handball Team. I was basically forced to do sports from very early age. First sport I picked up was Hockey (only few months) – mom decided to sing me off after an “incident” on a training where one guy hit me (we were really young like 3…and it was probably unintentional anyway) and when I stood up I turned to face him to tell him “What are you doing? Didn’t you see me standing there?” Well, not much of a hockey type heh? The second was Basketball, but I was way too young among older guys and didn’t enjoy it there. Then I was a Soccer goalkeeper for 9 years…9 long years. The community was though full of not-so-clever people. The older I was, the bigger the realization of that fact was and the unhappier I was about all the time I was spending with them. Then I tried my luck with Table-tennis, but the coach was really boring and was not really unlocking ones potential. Then the “Pub- career” started and I stopped playing any sport for 3-4 years. Until that day…

When I was 20 (after brake-up of my relationship and semi-pro Dota 2 team at the same time…bad bad times:D) I was introduced to Ultimate Frisbee. I was a bit sceptic about sports, because of the experience I had so far. But I decided to give it a go and visit the team I was supposed to join on Czech Championships. The team and the community was just astonishing! It was full of genuine people (just like Steemit), that were putting tremendous effort into the competition. Also there was no referee and still the game was so fluent and fair. I don’t usually fall in love on first sight, but here, here it happened.

Sport that is being broadcasted nowadays has completely went astray from its initial philosophy. Sport was supposed to be highly competitive and highly fair-minded competition with a stress on respect to others. Sportsmen happened to become a stars known by almost whole world. Their influence is greater than the influence of almost all of the humanity (at least in soccer). And those people are often times egomaniacs that are fair at all, disrespect their opponent at every possible moment and most importantly – THOSE MANNERS ARE BEEING ADAPTED BY THE YOUNGSTERS. This is a great shame in my eyes. That is why I support the Frisbee. Im not saying that everyone there is awesome. But I’m saying that the Spirit of the game there is such a huge factor there that it forms people into being more fair and respectful people. It literally is a highly competitive sport that teaches the young, but even the semi-old the good manners, because when they fail to do so, even your team does not stand behind you! Because alongside the effort to win is the fair-mindedness on same level of importance. AND THAT IS SPORT TO ME!

Some photos of me playing Ultimate Frisbee.

You won’t make the defence on my watch!

Summarization

Frisbee has changed my life. One of my life devotions are to spread the knowledge. From time to time we discourage potential “follower” by hitting him to the head, but every campaign has its casualties right? I just believe that Ultimate has the potential to survive the financing (so far we have to pay everything ourselves, which is some serious money, but it’s well worth it) and “keep it real” by not going astray from its philosophy. If I caught your attention, you can jump to my previous post, where I explain the rules (Be aware that it’s long past pay out period).

Hope you enjoyed the reading! Engage with me if you will!

Ultimate frisbee seems like a lot of fun, and a lot of hardwork too :D and here i thought frisbee was just child's play.
Don't know what the contest is about, but all the best!

Right now i basically spend 70% of my time on Steemit and 30% of my time training:) Lot of hard work as you said but it’s all well worth it when you enjoy the time after the training or tournament day with the rest of the community! That’s what everyone thinks and how wrong they are. If I make it to next round I will definitely plead for votes, because amount of friends here i have basically restricts me from winning any contest decided by community votes:P.

That looks fuuuuuuuuunnnnnn! We were just out on the beach throwing frisbee ourselves! We only had three of us. Your team and the game itself look a lot more fun. We had a blst though! Enjoyed.

Tossing frisbee is also fun, but nowhere near the actual game! Where are you from, there might be teams around!

Outside of the ATL. I'm sure there are.

OH USA. In that case frisbee is all around you i imagine:D
