SPUD Sprouts

The Steem Blockchain has been running smoothly since the last hard fork debacle. Spud5 was caught in the middle during that debacle, keeping some from participating. This time for SPUD6 the Steem Blockchain worked perfectly and has been since that last glitch caused by the hard fork, making for a smooth SPUD6.

The STEEM POWER UP DAY initiative continues to draw newcomers into supporting and participating in SPUD. We currently have 11 prize sponsors contributing 21 prizes worth over 9000 in Steem Power Delegation, Steem Power, Steem Basic Income Levels, and more. I have had one Steemian mention sponsoring a prize for the next SPUD Event so far, which would make for 12 prize sponsors should all return for the next SPUD. This means even more prizes for those that qualify during the next SPUD Event.

Looking at the chart provided by @penguinpablo, I boxed in red a large power down that has since been completed. There were many like this for this past year, and only now seems to have now ended. In fact, looking at this chart where I placed a red bracket, you can see that the STEEM POWER UP numbers are now trending up, and outpacing Power downs. His stats show that on October 1st, there were 91k in Power Downs and 189K in Power Ups for a net gain of 98K Powered Up (I rounded the numbers). Now I don't attribute this major gain to SPUD, but I do believe SPUD6 did play a small role in helping make those positive gains in Steem Powered Up versus Steem Powered Down, and I do believe that SPUD could eventually become a major contributor to those Power Up gains.

Another couple of cool things to note. In @penguinpablo 's stats page, he has a category for Top 10 Largest Power Ups of the Day for October 1st. The 1st Place winner of SPUD6, @ashtv also made @penguinpablo 's list of Top 10 Largest Power Ups of the Day, coming in at number 7 with a total of 3609 Steem turned into Steem Power. The Number 1 Power Up of the day came from @azircon with an 80k Power up. From what I can tell of that Top Ten list, it seems only @ashtv was a SPUD participant.

SPUD6 turned out to be a great event. I was inspired by all the participants, the sponsors, and SPUD well wishers. I was also truly inspired and even more motivated by those Steemians that participated in SPUD but whose accounts didn't qualify for prizes. Some of these Steemians made some huge Power Up moves. I was also inspired by seeing some past SPUD participants who have grown their accounts with Power Ups to the point they no longer qualify for the prizes, and yet they are still participating in SPUD. This was the most surprising and amazing thing to see yet. I hope to make a change or two for the next SPUD event, SPUD7, in order to recognize some of these Steemians that don't qualify for prizes but participate in SPUD nonetheless.
