RE: Splintertalk.io - Who is the Best @steemmonsters player across all 16 seasons?

in #spt5 years ago

Thanks for putting this together. I would love to learn how to query this data along with some other SM information. Would you mind sharing?

I would suggest that instead of dividing by a static total season of 15, that you use the actual season played by each player. For example, Begonethot is a newer top 10 player who did not play all 16 seasons. Therefore his score is skewed to be low because his true denominator is more like 4-5 seasons, not 15 seasons.

Also, what if the player only played a partial season (i.e. 100 battles in the first 5 days). Do you count that as a full season to use in your score calculation? I would use a minimum of 250 or 300 battles to qualify as a full season.

These will complicate your query and add more work, but I think it will improve the accuracy of the results. What are you thoughts?

Haha yeah I wanted to do that initially (divide by actual seasons played) but having a hard time doing the calculations. I simply extract from https://steemmonsters.com/players/leaderboard?season=16 and compiled them into Excel, and using excel functions to run thru. I am sure if you can put them into a script it will be easier to do more complex analysis. I lack the skills for that :)

Also, these are based on the Top 100 of each season, so the player must be rank in top100.

Thanks for sharing your data collection technique. That is very manual work, so thank you again for your efforts.

I am pretty good with SQL, but I was hoping to find some JSON code that queries line-up data so that I can modify to find the information about who was the first to play certain attack styles such as: double melee sneak, double arrow snipe, dragon in front, double magic sneak, etc...
