Newcastle United defeats Blackburn Rovers to progress to 4th round of FA cup

In the third round of FA Cup, Newcastle United comfortably won against Blackburn Rovers in the reverse fixture. In the earlier fixture, the game ended in a stalemate. Blackburn Rovers is the Champions league side.

At Ewood Park, it was an easy win for Newcastle after 2 early goals. Sean Longstaff scored early in the 1st minute to provide a lead for Newcastle. Joselu assisted this goal. In the 12th minute, Callum Roberts doubled the lead for Newcastle and it was assisted by Jacob Murphy. Blackburn got 2 goals back before the half. Adam Armstrong scored for Blackburn and it was assisted by Daniel Graham in the 33rd minute. Callum Roberts got the equalizers in the 45th minute and the first half ended in a 2-2 draw.

In the second half, there were no goals. Thus, it ended in 2-2 draw. The game went to the additional extra time. Newcastle added 2 more goals in extra time to win the game. Joselu got the first in 106 minutes. Ayoze Perez added the fourth to win it for United.

With the win, Newcastle moved to the fourth round of the FA Cup. The draw took place last Monday. Newcastle will play Watford at home in the fourth round.
