Germany continues miserable form; Netherlands win after 16 years

2014 World Champions Germany put an abysmal performance once again today against the Netherlands. Germany has gone through poor form including the shocking World Cup exit and more importantly, they havent won any competitive match after the exit. Joachim Low’s side looked without any confidence and was dominated by Dutch side to pick the first victory in 16 years. Van Dijk, Depay and Wijnaldum got a goal each to thrash Germany by the score of 3-0.

At Amsterdam today, Germany struggled from the start against the Netherlands. Netherlands got their first goal in the 30th minute as Van Dijk scored a header from near the post. Following the corner from Depay, Ryan Babel header was deflected from the crossbar, Van Dijk was first to get the ball and head it home. Other than this, Thomas Müller and Depay had some good chances to score but couldnt utilize it. Muller, in particular, was sluggish and he was finally replaced by Sane at the 57th minute, who missed the World Cup this summer. With the introduction of Sane and Draxler, Germany was able to put more attack. But Germany was unable to break the orange army inspired by Van Dijk. Sane missed a couple of good chances for Germany.

In pursuit of attacking, Germany was left open as Depay capitalized from the error by Mats Hummels assisted by Wijnaldum. In the additional extra time, Wijnaldum added the third for the Dutch, this time assisted by Daley Blind to provide the big win for the Netherlands. With this win, Netherlands moved to the second in the table in a group that has France. Germany is now at the bottom of the table with 1 point after drawing with France in their first match.

The problem continues for Germany and Low. The crisis in Germany football team is clearly reflected in league football as Bayern remains in the sixth spot in the league. The major issue for Germany has been scoring goals as they failed to score in 4 of their last 6 games. To add their pain, Germany will travel to World Champions France this Tuesday. Can the German team make a comeback against France this Tuesday?
