We've taken some time to work on a new free tool called resteemit.com!
Now anyone can give or get a free upvote & resteem on @resteemable
and its very easy to use.
Edit Any Steemit.com Article URL,
Remove "https://"
Add "Re"
(ie resteemit.com/tag/@username/article-title)
We've also been working on our contest rules...
We will no longer only rank our contests based on votes.
Spotlight is a content creation project
Instead, we will reward users for making great entries.
Writing Stream
Spotlight writers will be able to gain points by writing longer entries. Points will be awarded for 800, 1200, 1600 and 2000 word entries. Additionally we will reward points for adding original photos and video. There will be chances to gain bonus points for things like leaving the word count at the bottom of your article.
Video Stream
The focus is your video and the writing relates to it. In the video stream, we'll ask that the video is atleast 1 minute long. We'll award bonus points for having a 2.5 minute or 5 minute video and the context should be around 500 words. We will still ask people to identify themselves in the video, and that they're participating in the Spotlight Creative Challenge. A great option for creatives that don't want to write articles
Voting isn't dead. The article that gets the most votes will get 10 bonus points!

I just did it and it worked. I got confused when it asked for a $.50 donation, because I don't currently have $.50 sbd to use, but it seems to have gone through anyway. I am a witness. Thank you.

As you've changed the rules i think that's a better one @spotlight let the winner be awarded by creativity not votes
Sounds interesting. My posts are mainly lengthy video with ~500 words. Would I be given a fair shake with this format?

Thats a good question @buckydurddle - We'll do two prizes per contest one for the video stream and one for the writing stream.

Bonus points will be for longer essays. In the writing challenge since videos should help explain your topic you don't have to say "Spotlight Creative Challenge" here.
So when people make their entries they'll just write in the comment which stream its for. Then when we're tallying points we'll find our writing winner & video winner for our final announcement.

With this the writers would gain alot of advantage of winning
And other creative minds that can't do lengthy write ups would be losers. :-(

Thanks @camzy, I understand completely, although our goal is to create content that people will find outside of Steemit.com and draw them in. This means appealing to Google SEO best practices.
That said, if you want to write less, you can try creating a video for the project. We'll be hosting a seperate prize where the focus is your video. In the video stream, we'll ask that the video is atleast 1 minute long.

What about the artist who there arts speak for them.
I guess there would be another way of awarding them also?
Artists are very creative, I believe they will be able to find ways of expressing themselves in either stream.
I wanna join but my problem is, I dont know how to upload video. This is really interesting contest.
The easiest way is to upload a video to youtube then drop the link in your entry post.

The Steemconnect part asking me for 0.5$ was unexpected and confusing to be honest. I closed it.
The upvote & resteem occurs before the donation page.
