ENGLAND.... The team EVERYONE loves to hate!! A RWC special.

We don't really know why we do.... We all just know that we hate England. I don't mean the people, I mean their sports team.

Hate may be a strong word, maybe it's jealousy?? Maybe it's a deep routed resentment that England can produce successful teams in multiple sports, CONSTANTLY!!

All we know is, England are the rugby team everyone loves to hate.

What are England’s chances of winning Rugby World Cup 2019?

It's not a case of "what are their chances?", it should be a case of "what miracle will happen this time to stop them winning? ".... With over 2000 registered clubs and approximately 2.5million registered players, the Egnlish Rugby Football Union (RFU) has the world largest player base of any nation. So why is it time after time, they fail to win the RWC? With the greatest number of players to pick from and with so much talent on offer, why have England NOT dominated every rugby World Cup??

SO HOW COULD THEIR RWC PLAY OUT

England find themselves in a very difficult pool. France and Argentina are no slouches and will be a very tough challenge for the "Red Rose Machine" of England. Depending on which French side turns up (I'll do a blog on the French soon and you'll get what I mean), it could well determine how England progress though the tournament. Although Argentina made it the the semifinals of the last World Cup, I can't see them progressing past the poolstages this time.

This is how I see POOL C ending up.

England’s first bit of ‘luck’ comes in the way the competition is set up. England will avoid the power houses of New Zealand and South Africa until the semi finals if the pool stages play out as predicted. Instead, if England progress as expected they face the possibility of a hit or miss Wales in the quarter final (we've had a poor last few weeks). Now this one is hard to call!! We beat England during the last world cup. We beat England in this year's 6 nations tournament. We played them twice last month, in friendlies, winning one and losing one....

My heart says YES, but my head says NOT THIS TIME!!

So this leaves England in the semifinals and from there on its anyone's guess. If England turn up, then realistically no one should be able to stop them. The great thing about rugby World cups are they only happen every 4yrs, so any team can have their "magic moment" at anytime and upset the odds.

I can't believe as a Welshmen I'm saying this, but there is nothing stopping England winning this years RWC. I just really hope they don't!!
