Well, the 21st century was and is believed to have a profound effect on the way life is set to evolve in this world. One thing which most people often refer to as untouched by the 21st century is cricket itself. Someone born in 2000 would barely be 19 years and at such age should have absolutely no right being among the ICC rankings. However, what if I told you that you were wrong? Well, there is just one man who has so far defied the odds to be in the ICC rankings and he's barely an adult! That boy or man is Mujeeb ur Rahman.

Who is Rahman?

The first thing you should know about him is that he is just 18 years. After being born on the 28th day of March, it is clear that his rise to the top has come earlier than most people. For this reason, he became the very first person born in this century to play international cricket.

Talking about international cricket, the first time that he took to the stage for his country which is Afghanistan by the way, he was just 16 years old and that same year, he broke yet another record. He became the youngest player in the history of the sport to take a haul of about five-wicket during an ODI game. He has also been part of history apart from making history. He was part of the very first team who took to the field against India as Afghanistan played their first-ever Test match series in their career. It is believed that one of the greatest influences that spurred him to play cricket would be the presence of his uncle who is also a cricket player. The first time he played first-class cricket in his career was in 2016.

XI Punjab proved to be a very smart dealer and proceeded to snap him up the following year. By doing so, he also became the youngest player in the history of India to play for a club in the Indian Premier League. He has also played for Nangarhar who signed him up when Afghanistan decided to set up their very first league. His exploits have also taken him to England as he has played for Hampshire during his short career. It is very clear then that he has had a very rewarding career at such a young age. Most older and more experienced players would only dream of having the number of opportunities which has presented itself to him since he started playing cricket. It just proves how effective he has proven to be in such a short period.
