Player Profile: Imad Wasim

Batsmen are often held in high esteem when it comes to playing cricket. They can change the game in a blink of an eye. For most teams in cricket, they usually rely on their batsman to bail down out of trouble. This is no different from the Pakistan team. They have a team which they believe is capable of challenging the best of teams. One of the best players in that team is one man. He is popularly known as Imad Wasim. Who is he and what has he done for his team in recent times?

Who is Imad Wasim?

If there is one thing we know about Imad, it is that he has always played for his national team Pakistan. Right from when he was young, he has participated in the under 17 games and much more for his country. Currently, he is a player for Karachi Kings and also their captain.

On the 18th of December 1988, he was born in Swansea. Hence, he has the chance to play for Pakistan or England. However, he sought to play for Pakistan and boy would they be happy he did. His exemplary cricket skills and achievements have certainly be taken into account by his country as he was offered a contract by Pakistan (only twenty players were offered contract). Be if this most memorable moment in recent times would surely be when he was given the chance to captain the national team in the ODI format.

Before he joined the under-19 team, he was not on the path to cricket. He was planning to be a doctor and was already studying medicine. Despite having been born in the UK, he got a chance to live in Pakistan after his parents moved back when he was still quite young.

The first international debut he made can be traced back to 2015 when he played against Zimbabwe. Later this year, he also made his debut internationally for the ODI format of the competition. This marked what would be one of the longest stays for him in the team. One of his rewards would be the ICC champions trophy which Pakistan claimed in 2016. The last big moment for Imad would probably be when he was informed that he had been chosen by the Pakistan team to play for them in the Cricket World Cup. With his foray in the World cup, he would no doubt take it that he has achieved all that he probably can in his career.

When it comes to cricket, there would always be a lot of protagonists. Imad would always be loved in Pakistan as he is a player who is ready to play for his country with everything he has got. With the batsman being just 30 years old, it is very possible that we would be seeing a lot of him in the coming years. It is something which would surely be quite interesting.
