Martin Škrtel became a new Atalanta player.
The Slovak defender arrived today in Bergamo, where he underwent medical tests. After them, he signed a contract with Atalanta, valid until June 30, 2020. An extension option has been included.
Škrtel joined the Italian team on a free transfer basis. The 34-year-old defender remained out of the club after he split with Fenerbahçe a few weeks ago. During 3 seasons he played 119 matches in the Turkish team's jersey. As for the 2018/2019 competition, he ran out onto the pitch 40 times.
In the past, Škrtel was associated with Liverpool for over eight years. He has accumulated 320 appearances in the "The Reds" jersey. With the Anfield team the defender won the League Cup.
Atalanta finished last season in 3rd place in the Serie A table and is preparing to compete in the Champions League group stage. This summer Ruslan Malinowski and Luis Muriel joined her ranks.
