The defending champion Team USA lost to France, 89-79, in the quarterfinals of the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
France's Evan Fournier led with 22 points and Rudy Gobert posted 21 points and 16 rebounds.
Team USA still held a seven-point advantage in the last quarter until France finally broke it.
The two rivals last met at the 2016 Rio Olympics when the US defeated France, 100-97.
Not one USA player who played in the Olympics has now joined NBA players in the FIBA World Cup.
Donovan Mtichell wasted 29 points for Team USA.
France will face Argentina in the semifinals on Friday as the US will be ready to face Serbia in the consolation round of the tournament.
