History

The stadium's rooster
Tottenham Hotspur moved to White Hart Lane in 1899. His first game in this field ended with a 4-1 victory over Notts County. Five thousand fans witnessed the victory. Between 1908 and 1972, White Hart Lane was one of the few British football venues that showed no billboard.

Around 1923 the venue was expanded to accommodate 50,000 covered spectators. He is guarded by his pet, a police fight rooster, from the roof of the East Grada. In the 1930s, football was a tremendously popular hobby, and despite the relative mediocrity of Tottenham, 75,038 spectators went to White Hart Lane in March 1938 to see the Spurs lose with the Sunderland AFC in the FA Cup. In 1953 they They introduced the bulbs, which were renewed again in the 1970s and regularly renewed with new technology since then.

The West Tier was built in the early 1980s and the project was so poorly managed that it ended late and the cost, higher than expected, caused serious financial damage to the Club. This side of the stadium runs in parallel with Tottenham High Road and is connected to it by Bill Nicholson Way.

The East Tier (on Worcester Avenue) is a three-tier structure designed by the well-known stadium architect Archibald Leitch in the 1930s. Until the 1980s the intermediate tier was a standing terrace with great views of the pitch at reasonable prices . The local fans, jokingly, called this stand La Estantería. By 1990 the Grada Este had been reformed, taking on what it looks like today, but two supports that obstruct the view reveal its true age.

The 1990s saw the culmination of the South Grada (on Park Lane) and the introduction of the first Jumbotron video screen (there are currently two, one on each penalty area). The renovation of the Members' Tier (North), which is reached by Paxton Road, was completed in 1996 leaving the stadium with its current appearance.

The negotiations of the board of directors on the future of the home of Tottenham Hotspur FC continue, to increase capacity if localities continue to run out to see the team at home, the project called Northumberland Development Project plans to remodel the stadium and expand it to 58,000 60,000 spectators The transfer to Wembley Stadium or the stadiums that were built to host the 2012 Olympic Games in London were options set by the Club.

On March 17, 2012, during the match against Bolton in the 41st minute, the Anglo-Congolese footballer Fabrice Muamba collapsed due to cardiac arrest. The match was suspended.
