TERENCE CRAWFORD VS JULIUS INDONGO RED CORNER, BLUE CORNER

in #sports7 years ago (edited)

On the 19th of August 2017 Terence Crawford and Julius Indongo will trade leather in an attempt to determine who is the current reigning undisputed light welterweight boxing champion of the world.

RED CORNER

In the red corner, hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, USA, our champion and challenger, Terence Bud Crawford. Entering the ring with a perfect professional record of 31 fights and 0 losses, with 21 of those wins coming by way of Knockout (71% ko ratio). He is the current holder of the WBC and WBO light welterweight titles (140 lbs). Crawford Stands at 5ft 8in tall and with 70in reach. He is 29 years old.

BLUE CORNER

And in the blue corner, all the way from Windhoek, Namibia, also the challenger and the champion, Julius blue machine Indongo. Indongo Enters the ring with a perfect professional record of 22 wins and 0 losses, with 11 of those wins coming inside the distance (50% ko ratio). He is the current holder of the WBA and IBF light welterweight titles (140 lbs). Indongo stands at 5ft 10.5in tall with a 71.5in reach. He is 34 years old.

SOMEONES O HAS GOT TO GO.

Both fighters come to the ring with a lot of confidence, pride and belief in themselves, understandably so, considering they each are carry two versions of the light welterweight world title, and both have undefeated records. That old catchy saying comes to mind, someone's O has got to go, but neither Crawford nor Indongo will let that O go without a fight.

Each fighter has everything to lose, but also everything to gain, as the victor will be crowned the undisputed light welterweight king of the world. A title that brings with it, glory, acclaim, future big fights and future big pay days.

COMPARSION

The two fighters have both come up against, and dethroned former 3 weight world boxing champion Ricky Burns, and both beat him by way of a unanimous decision. Indongo and Crawford, each in their own way completely dominated Burns.

The knockout ratios would suggest that Crawford has the advantage in power, but the ratio doesn't always tell the full story. One fighter may have built up his ko ratio against lower quality opponents. In this case the ratios stand true, as Crawford has fought against the better opposition.

Indongo is ungainly and awkward, but he uses this to great effect as it makes him very difficult to read. He has fast hands and long arms. Indongo is aggressive and has a high punch output. Although tall for the weight class, he is not opposed to fighting on the inside.

Crawford has become a well established name in boxing with wins over Yuriorkis Gamboa, Ricky Burns and Viktor Postol. He is blessed with power, speed, footwork and a great boxing brain. Crawford is technically the more gifted fighter.

Expect a high octane action fuelled fight from the opening bell. I think the fight will be a closely fought affair and Indongo may prove to be a much tougher challenge for Crawford than most are expecting, and if the styles of the two fighters gel, then this fight could potentially end up being a nominee for fight of the year.
