Kings Win in St Louis
Sup you Steemy Party People. The Kings won. Unfortunately I have not seen a game yet this season but here are a few interesting observations.
No Sobotka
St Louis is always a contender, we remember the goofy faces from coach Ken Hitchcock back in the day. They have been a thorn in the Kings' side for years and Vladimir Sobotka was a big part of that. He was tenacious against the Kings in the way that you hated what he did to us but you wished your team would be a little more like him. Well, he's a Sabre now so the Kings picked up a win on the road.
Peterson?
Quick has a long term injury and is off the roster. Campbell is a solid back up. So is Budaj. Budaj helped us in prior years only to be dumped like a government mule when Quick returned from injury. Well, Budaj is apparently back and lost pretty bad to Toronto. Toronto is a great team so we don't know how much of that loss was Budaj's fault. Enter Cal Peterson. WTF is Cal Peterson you ask? We don't know. He is a 24 year old from Iowa who just shut out the Blues , so, that's nice. If you don't know, the Kings have had an exceptional goalie pipeline under goalie coach Bill Ranford. He truly has the magic touch and is a shining talent in the Kings organization. Keep up the good work, Bill, and don't be too hard on Budaj, he is still solid.
Hagelin
Hagelin is fast. We marveled at his performances playing for the Ducks and Penguins. He is a King now. My friend laughed when I said Kempe will have a buddy. He said, "why? Because they're Swedish?" I said, "yes." That's how these things work. The game winning goal had as assists both Kempe and Hagelin which is an indication they are playing on the same line. This is good. We like it. Kovalchuck is a legend but is not young anymore. After that pick up the Kings might have thought they have a need, a need for speed. Looking forward to seeing Hagelin tear things up.
Next up, a home game against the Colorado Avalanche, tomorrow, 1930 Pacific Standard Kings Time. Colorado is slightly favored so let's see.
Welcome aboard Hagelin!
