Luck VS Judgement - A Trixie Challenge - Day 15
Yesterday was another of those frustrating days in Trixieland. The first two ’Judgement’ selections rolled into places and all eyes, well both of mine at least, were on Star Ascending in the 18.30 at Wolverhampton. Sadly, Oisin Murphy couldn’t get the horse into the frame and a potential great day became merely an OK one. £1.89 back on the £2 stakes, we can call it a wash.
Such is life and such is gambling. In fairness two places out of three would be great if it could happen every other day with a threes-up now and again to tip the whole endeavour into the beautiful green land of profit. Sadly theory and reality are never easy bedfellows.
Once again today’s picks have been made on a loosely scientific basis. @happyaslarry believes my selection process to be nothing more than a short hop from pin-sticking-luck but I beg to differ. Perhaps when this is over we can switch sides and test his method against mine.
Here’s @happyaslarry with his brief thoughts on today’s lucky pin sticks:
”John B, Lickpenny Larry - couldn’t miss those today. And I’m not giving up on the poetry, even at 100/1 in a six horse race...”
And here, in breaking news, is a final remark from Larry, sent just as this post was due to go live!
”I noticed a horse shoe on a beam in my bedroom, it has been painted over in black so isn’t always noticeable. I gave it a rub for luck today. A surefire sign of success today...”
