20 Steps to a Million - An Introduction

Welcome, Steemians to 20 Steps to a Million, an experiment in gambling, luck, optimism and stupidity.

I first attempted this impossible task (or fantastical dream if you prefer) way back in 2011 but only ever made it as far as the third week, that is only 17 weeks shy of complete success so you can see why I am keen to resurrect this plan, right? After all who doesn't want to be a millionaire?

Fortunately, I was vain enough to film my first attempt at this so you can watch the videos below to get an idea of what is going to happen here. However, in short, the idea is a simple one. You gamble one British pound at odds of evens and if you win then you have two British pounds. If you then manage to do this a further 19 times you will have well over ONE MILLION POUNDS!!! Yes, you read that right... One entire million pounds, just think how much Verge I could buy with that!

So as promised here are the videos that I made all those years ago! In this introduction, I explain the concept and am wearing a brown velour polo shirt, I do not know what I was thinking. I am also incredibly hairy and have chosen a camera angle that could best be described as 'up-crotch', I apologise for this.

This next video is just a few days later and is presented by my considerably less hairy brother, 'Suit Jacket and T-Shirt Media Wanker Braeburn'. Optimism is high as 10 bets are presented from a lovely pine dining table in Maida Vale.

The last two bets of week 1 are on an online casino site... I know, I know, I don't do THAT kind of stupid shit anymore. I am trying to put a brave face on things but by the end of the video, only half the bets have been a success. Should this be a surprise? They are fifty-fifty chances after all...

Anyway, you can see where this is going... here are the next few videos, you can watch them if you want to see me first sitting in a garden and then doing a barbecue in the same garden. If you look closely you can see the dream slowly dying in my eyes.

Predictably everything went wrong after the end of week 3 and so I made this rather dramatic video featuring the demise of the project...

Now I am resurrecting this scheme, 20 Steps to a Million is rising from the flames, reborn from the ashes, just like I said it would be just seven short years ago. Stay tuned for this momentous occasion, I will be posting a video today or tomorrow with the first set of bets in this lunatic and almost definitely doomed scheme!
